My Notes edit

My self-summary

My main interests are art (in all its forms), language, and neuroscience. I am in a constant state of keepin' it real.
OkCupid: Now in Spanish!
Me interesa el arte, los idiomas, y la neurología. Siempre estoy a lo más auténtico.

What I'm doing with my life

I work in San Diego as a linguist developing natural language processing software. I also paint when I have time and inspiration (never), read a ton, and cross-stitch subversively. Other than that I spend a lot of time with family and friends having a good time. :)

I'm really good at

Hmmm, being humble?

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

That I'm laughing, smiling, and swearing at the same time.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books:

Way too many to mention but--The Dogs of Babel, Replay, Second Glance, The Time Traveler's Wife, Good Grief, and almost everything by Robert J. Sawyer (especially The Neanderthal Parallax [Hominids, Humans, Hybrids], Factoring Humanity, Frame Shift, Calculating God, and The Terminal Experiment), Chuck Palahniuk (especially Invisible Monsters), David Ambrose (especially The Discrete Charm of Charlie Monk, Coincidence, and The Man Who Turned into Himself), and Jorge Luis Borges.

Movies:

The Matrix (all), The Three Caballeros, Adam & Steve, Madame Satã, The Joy Luck Club, V for Vendetta, Kill Bill (I & II), Eternal Sunshine in the Spotless Mind, A Long Kiss Goodnight, Point of No Return, Love and Other Disasters, Under the Tuscan Sun, Just Friends, Underworld (I & II), X-Men (all), Contact, Mean Girls, Running with Scissors, The Descent, Silence of the Lambs, Like Water for Chocolate, Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain, Nell, The Color Purple, Alice in Wonderland, The Hot Chick, Blade: Trinity, and most movies directed/produced by Pedro Almodóvar (All About My Mother, My Life Without Me, Volver, Bad Education).

TV:

Supernatural, 30 Rock, The Office (US), Heroes, Alias, Fringe, LOST, Reno 911!, Dark Angel, The L Word, Drawn Together, Six Feet Under, Arrested Development, Futurama, Tales From the Crypt.

Food:

Big fan of Mexican, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek, and Argentine. Not such a big fan of Mongolian nor Chinese.

Art:

Salvador Dalí, M.C. Escher, Carlos Luna, Frida Kahlo, Henri Matisse, and Pablo Picasso. Surrealism, all indigenous art of Latin America (especially that of the Huichol/Tepehuano, Kuna, Guatemalan, and Andean peoples), the art of the Haida people, and vintage advertisements/propaganda.

Heroes:

Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna, Frida Kahlo, Alan Turing, João Francisco dos Santos, Thích Quảng Đức, Trent Reznor, John Lennon, Pedro Almodóvar, Oscar Wilde, Friedrich Nietzsche, Carl Gustav Jung, Stephen Hawking, Galileo Galilei, Leonardo da Vinci, Francis Bacon, George Boole, Salvador Dalí, Reynaldo Arenas, Richard Dawkins, Steven Patrick Morrissey, Alan Moore, Federico García Lorca, Bobby Henderson, Daniel Tammet, Mary J. Blige, Alanis Morissette.

The six things I could never do without

1.) Loved ones

2.) Art (painting, film, literature, music, etc....)

3.) Internet

4.) iPod

5.) The word f*ck

6.) Patience

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Shit, everything. I don't even know where to begin.

On a typical Friday night I am

Doing something fun and chill with friends. Dinner? Some drinks? A movie? Something like that.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

My sources of shame:

1.) Sometimes I litter out of my car window.

2.) I use bit torrents to pirate media.

I have no personal boundaries, just ask.

You should message me if

You feel like it :)
