My self-summary
Is this where I sum myself up? Where I go into detail about all the Austiny activities I enjoy: outdoors (biking, kayaking, hiking, camping), travelling, exercise, live music, discovering the hidden gems of this city? Or do I point out some personal interests: stargazing, woodworking, math problems, and of course writing software applications using deprecated programming languages? Or maybe talk about how I'm a recent transplant?

How about instead, I present the reader with a few paradoxes about me, which I think are a little more vague, and a little more informative:
- I have a fixed perception of reality, which is constantly changing.
- I have a positive outlook on life, and see the world as gruesome, chaotic and unpredictable.
- I have a systematic and procedural approach to solving problems, by acting completely off instinct.
- The experiences of my past, have shaped me to always look towards the future.
- I am passionate, ambitious and constantly growing, yet content with where I am in life.
What I’m doing with my life
I work as a Computer Programmer both at my job, and also in my own side projects. Currently I'm working on a build-your-own solar system application.
I also volunteer at a local non-profit, directed towards helping the underprivileged learn basic computer skills.
I've followed in my Dad's footsteps with woodworking. I've built bookshelves, coffee tables, and even a jewelry box (That's right ladies, a jewelry box!).
In the short term, I'm new to town and working on getting a footprint down.
I’m really good at
Looking at life from an analytical perspective, physical activity, making Manhattans, cooking, giving hugs, self deprecation, self aggrandizement, dry humor, starting a fire without matches, being fascinated by the conventionally mundane.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I think this section is really the least important, but it's also the most fun to fill out.

Books - George RR Martin basically owns me, as long as I wait for the next installment in his Song of Ice and Fire series. But for the sake of showing how well-read I am, here's a generic list of some of my all time favorites: Ham on Rye, Slaughterhouse Five, Blood Meridian, For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Hobbit, East of Eden, and Neuromancer.

Movies - Wanna talk movies? Don't get me started. I'll go on and on. My most recent favorite in the past year, is probably Gravity. It did an excellent job of showing how the infinite universe is infinitely more brutal than anything here on Earth. I like brutal.

Music - I'll list my favorite shows I've seen since moving here: Swans, Tame Impala, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Iron Maiden/Megadeth, Full Service, Grimes, Mutual Benefit, Deerhunter, Chelsea Wolfe, Kurt Vile, Of Montreal, Flaming Lips, Wilco, Savages, and Mammoth Grinder (even if you don't like metal, you gotta love the ingenuity some of them have, to come up with band names).

Food - Here's my favorite dishes from places around town: Second Bar + Kitchen's Cream of Yukon Gold Potato and Caramelized Onion Soup, Parkside's Coal Roasted Potatoes, Luke's Inside Out's Pulled Pork Bacon Gouda Cheddar Sandwich, Foreign & Domestic's Fried Chicken Biscuit, Contigo's Beef Tongue Hash (don't be scared away, it's amazing), Moonshine's brunch buffet, and Franklin BBQ's everything!! For the most part, I'm a health freak. However, when I'm eating out, anything is fair game.
The six things I could never do without
1) My Bike
2) My Laptop
3) Power Tools
4) A Chef's Knife
5) Live Music - This is the window into my soul.
6) Good Whiskey- This is more a hole in the wall of my soul. Sure it wasn't planned in the original design; but now that it's there, it really adds an aesthetic!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If everyone's dreams are as strange as mine;
If I'm going to be alive for when the Redskins win another Super Bowl;
The ethical implications of time travel;
The next restaurant/food truck/bar I want to try out;
Free will versus determinism - more specifically, if free will doesn't exist, will we ever find an algorithm for predicting anything and everything which happens in this world?
I also sometimes think I was meant to become a Viking Warrior; If that's the case, the Gods are cruel for having me born 1200 years too late.
On a typical Friday night I am
Keeping it classy. Whether I'm out on East side socializing, or in a tent in the woods, or enjoying the solitude of making dinner and reading a book/watching Netflix; that is the one thing which is consistent.
