My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Some of my friends consider me to be a polymath. Others consider me a walking reference book. I am just a curious guy.

I am a classical musician by training and express my art through music composition, music arranger, performance as a singer (bass), instrumentalist, and as a conductor.

Other arts that I am passionate about include cuisine (see photos), architecture, painting, opera, theater, sculpture, gardening to name a few. I also enjoy riding my bicycle, boating, sports cars and sports car racing (I have done that), ecology, home improvement and styling, acquiring new knowledge.

Politically I am very liberal and am involved with progressive politics. I have run for public office, and currently hold 2 appointed commissions with city government.

Also. I like dogs though I am presently dogless most of the time. Occasionally I care for a loaner dog, a Shnoodle named Clancy that loves to howl. When he first arrives at my house he likes to sit on my lap and we howl together. It is a bonding moment.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am active in music performing and directing with several ensembles, and composing music. I am currently working on compositions for chorus, smaller ensembles, and a piece for symphony orchestra.

I am operations manager for a small company that is involved with natural habitat restoration.

Active with party politics - helping progressive candidates with their campaigns and serving as an officer in the DFL.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Home repair
Designing things
Developing new points of view
Being creative
Being funny

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books; The Art of Racing in the Rain, Outliers, Various books about Frank Lloyd Wright, Audi TT service manual.

Movies; Shawshank Redemption, West Side Story, Office Space, Idiocracy (so incredibly stupid that it is a stupid way), The Party (Peter Sellers), The Green Mile, Mars Attacks, Best in Show, Fargo, A Mighty Wind, The Big Lebowski

Shows; Iron Chef (I prefer the original Japanese version), Baking With Julia, This Old House, Hometime, My Classic Car with Dennis Gage, Ultimate Restorations (look it up; it is fascinating!), Great Performances. The only game show I enjoy is Jeopardy! I did enjoy The Daily Show and Colbert Report when they were on.

The music I listen to, and make; ALL classical music, but especially modern classical. Jazz, especially free jazz. Rock music that is not too constrained by its own conservative nature. Country music that has no aspirations towards commercial indulgence, or country music that is really old. Old country music sounds best to my ears when played on an old radio on a hot and dusty day, (get in the mindset of Oh Brother Where Art Thou?). Any music that has historical and/or cultural real significance.

Food; French! Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Cuban, Italian, Indian! Mexican, Greek, Spanish! Fresh Ingredients. Spicy! Food made with great ingredients. I do not care for foods made with fake ingredients. Also, no ketchup.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
*My creativity
*My friends
*Quality cookware
*Quality knives (cooking knives, not weapons. I am not crazy, I'll have you know)
*My health

Also.... six things I could certainly do without;
*Clownburger; aka McDonalds (It's a ketchup based cuisine)
*Obstructionist politicians
*Stupid and useless cooking gadgets like Salad Shooter, Fry Daddy, Slap Chopper, and just about anything under the Ronco or Popiel brand names.
*Fake wood, fake stone, fake ceramic
*Catsup, which is just an uppity version of ketchup.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Music to compose, past compositions and new ways to express my ideas, architecture to somehow express, design, the meaning and myth of religion and ceremony in society.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends, or alone at a concert.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I hate ketchup. And woodpeckers. And wasps. Wasps must hate me too as they have tried to kill me. Fake wood. Fake food. Fake cheese. I guess I am just a hateful man..... in a gracious and loving kind of way. I am glad to live in a free world where I can choose to have no ketchup.

...if you hate ketchup too!!.... or if anything else in my profile piques your interest.

Please note that in the past I have had serious relationships with ketchup eaters, but that was not the deal killer. You could potentially enjoy ketchup and we could still be a match! Just do not expect me to share that passion with you.

I draw the line at smothering your pancakes with ketchup.
