My self-summary
I love to run around and do fun stuff: go exploring in the woods or the city; meet new people; hang out with old friends; play foosball, frisbee golf, horseshoes, darts; make up fun games to play, drinking or non; board games with friends; go to hockey, soccer and football games; going to outdoor music festivals; camping; also, laying around and enjoying a TV marathon, reading a book, or other relaxing indoor activities. Man, it's a good thing I put those semicolons in there.

I'm a liberal, an environmentalist, an LGBTQ rights advocate, an opponent of global fascism, a peace activist, but not a pacifist. I'm not always intense, but when it comes to politics and hockey, I get pumped.

I just started playing ice hockey, and I'm not any good, but I love it!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a web developer. Yes, I have a real job, and no, I'm not a freelancer.

Disc golfing and ice skating as much as possible...

Wednesday is wing night with friends. We have a nice tradition going.

I’m really good at
relevant skills include:

cooking, massage, empathy, romantic antics, comedying

irrelevant skills include:

building unwieldy lego towers in the most insane way possible until they collapse, claymations, web development, spacing out, political viewpointing, disc golfing, amateur iceskatesmanship.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably my hair. Guys used to wear their hair long. Now they don't. I still do.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently reading: The Dark Tower series.

I love reading and will read just about anything. I used to read the back of the box of cereal as a kid, over and over, despite having memorized it at that point. I hadn't been doing a lot lately, but I just got a new book, so I'm back in the saddle!

I like intelligent cinema, documentaries, comedies, dystopian future movies, silly internet cartoons, silly regular cartoons, not so silly Anime. I resist things and then I check them out and I'm like "woah this is sweet!" The upside is I got to watch all of Arrested Development in about a week. Who waits for a new episode of The Walking Dead!? Not this guy. I wait for 3 seasons, then watch all of them in the span of a month.

This is a great example of the random, dry, ridiculousness that I enjoy:

Some of my favorite bands of all time: The Beatles, Built to Spill, REM, Beastie Boys, The Shins, Arcade Fire... Despite their short run and "fictional" existence, another of my favorites is Polaris (The Adventures of Pete and Pete).

Music is huge for me.
Musical Genres I like: Classic rock, Jazz, Bluegrass, Blues, Hip Hop, Jam Bands (Like String Cheese Incident and the Allman Brothers), and a few alternative bands. My favorite music genre, if you hadn't noticed from my top bands, is Progressive Rock.

As for food, I love cooking, and finding a new recipe, running off to the store (or the food Co-Op!) to get ingredients and do some experimenting is always a great time.

I also love going out to eat. Who doesn't!? A rare steak, sushi, Tai, Indian, chinese, Mexican (real Mexican food, not Taco Bell or Mad Mex), there's this new Uzbekistani place near my apartment, Cuban, Italian... I mean, really, I love food. In general. Growing it, cooking it, eating it. I also am a big believer in eating healthy. If it's organic, fresh and varied, you're probably doing it right.

I am planning on making my garden bigger this year. Also, I have dreams of a water catchment system to help with watering.

I listen to dozens of podcasts.
The six things I could never do without
Mott the Hoople and the game of Life,
Andy Kaufman in the wrestling match,
Monopoly, Twenty-one, Checkers, and Chess,
Mister Fred Blassie in a breakfast mess.
Let's play Twister, let's play Risk.
See you heaven if you make the list.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Yesterday I tried to complicate my life. I said I thought that you'd make a pretty wife. Then dreams of an intergalactic guy pointed my own thoughts to the sky. And now, Carl Sagan's on my mind. Oh, God, I hope, I really think I hope he's right!

I don't have the time to babysit your lonely spine. I'll just drink my beers and watch for spaceships in the sky.

You don't want to know about me and Carl, and "The Cosmos" Show.

And if I start to miss your turned-up nose, I'll call you up, we'll speculate on UFOs.

Because, today close encounters of another kind on PBS make me so happy I could cry.

On a typical Friday night I am
Unwinding from a long week of programming. I've also been playing ice hockey, which often lands on a Friday night.

I think I'd rather go out on a Saturday night... then, spend Sunday relaxing or going disc golfing, or playing board games or Magic the Gathering with friends.

I'd love to do more camping in the nicer months. Care to join me?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My favorite romantic songs involve going somewhere ridiculous to live: under the sea, buried under feet of snow in the middle of a neighborhood, sailing to foreign lands, living in a home on ice, deep in a forest...

Bonus points if you can name any of those songs.
