I am thoughtful, engaging, and entertaining.
My Self-Summary
I teach at LSU. I'm just an adjunct, so it's not a big deal.
Every year or so I come up with some radical, new, ridiculous
life-plan that I will probably not act on. It just happens. I think
it's my idea of fun.
I love
music and
prefer to listen to it on vinyl records, but I will settle for
others mediums. A musician or artist of any kind makes me
swoon.
I'm dorky and appreciate dorky in others.
Nerds make me blush.
I appreciate a good pun and often make them unintentionally--which
has been known to embarrass me, sometimes in front of a class.
What I’m doing with my life
Good question! For now,
teaching. Forever...? I'm still
undecided, which makes for a more interesting ride.
I’m really good at
One-liners. Not a talent that makes money, but I like it.
I'm also a pretty good listener and give decent advice.
I am an excellent wingman and have numerous people who will back me
up on that. I guess this means that I'm generally a pretty
supportive guy.
Going off on long overly-intellectual diatribes.
The first things people usually notice about me
My glasses. They're kind of overwhelming. My hair probably comes
next, if I put stuff in it that day. Third, my sense of humor--I'm
sarcastic and witty.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: The Sound and the Fury, Exquisite Corpse, Lust and Other
Stories, The Virgin Suicides, The Wheel of Time, Harry Potter,
etc.
Movies (the shortlist): Rear Window, M, Life as a House, Notorious,
The Passenger, Dirty Dancing, The Godfather I and II (not III),
Apocalypse Now, Meshes of the Afternoon, Hedwig and the Angry Inch,
Shortbus.
Music: The Beatles, Bob Dylan, P!nk, Rachael Yamagata, Fleetwood
Mac, Guster (the older stuff), Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Kate
Bush, Bonnie Raitt, Jay Brannan, etc.
Food: asparagus, brussels sprouts, anything containing tasso,
boudin, cajun/creole generally, anything tasty.
The six things I could never do without
I kind of want to avoid the usual ones, so assume that the standard
"friends, family, cell phone, etc." is on the list.
I'm going to try to be unconventional with:
late nights, alarm clock, sunshine, an audience, compassion,
sympathy.
I hope that works.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My friends, the mistakes of philosophy, cooking, fantasizing about
being a rock star, and so on.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends. A Friday in is kind of rare for me. If I do spend
it at home, I'm usually on the phone talking with a friend or two.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
yeah...right.
You should message me if
You embrace your inner nerd, appreciate horrifically dorky humor,
and like to
daydream.
