My self-summary

So, who am I? That's perhaps the hardest question of them all. Instead of replying to that I'll just list what I am, or at least a few things I consider myself to be. And the things I like to do. I'm a Programmer (I've been a programming teacher). I've used computers since I was eight years old. I'm also a Composer. My music style varies but usually avoids purely mainstream stuff because it bores me. I draw sometimes. I occasionally write stories. I like to play puzzle games and some board games. My favourite game is Othello aka. Reversi. I'm a very liberal person. I'm an Agnostic (which basically means I'm deliberately undecided on what religion/non-religion to believe in, simply because I don't have a clue). I like the quality of the air when it rains. I'm fairly sure I'm an INTP (google for INTP or MBTI if you don't know what that is). I'm a regular at http://intpcentral.com where I enjoy posting the occasional weird thought.

I guess at some point I should have a photo taken of myself outside my apartment for a change...

Incidentally, I have the same birthdate as Nostradamus. Not that it defines me or anything :D

I am stoic, lenient, and inventive
What I’m doing with my life

I try to make ends meet while I look for the best way to make use of my abilities. Unfortunately the two are often hard to combine.

I tend to have a lot of projects going on. I rarely, if ever, set deadlines for them. I might or might not be finished with some of them before I die :D

I’m really good at
Teaching, apparently (I was somewhat surprised when I found out). Computer programming. Music and art according to some people (although not everyone agrees). Logical deduction. Solving complex logical problems. Spotting logical, grammatical and spelling errors; that doesn't necessarily mean I mention them, oh and by the way, this sentence has a couple of those. Analyzing complex things and explaining them in simple terms. Spotting potential problems long before they happen.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes, I've been told. Also, that I'm introverted. In social situations I tend to turn into an observer/listener, partly because I don't tend to have much to say about most topics that would normally come up, and partly because I'm just not comfortable with a lot of interaction (One-on-one conversation is more than enough for me). If a subject I'm interested in comes up, then I can be extremely comprehensive, often to the point where I have to remind myself that people generally don't like to deal with any subject that deeply, especially when it comes to technical stuff.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Favourite books: Those written by Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett. And of course all the various reference material I've hoarded in my bookcase.

Favourite movies: The Big Lebowski, The Dark Crystal, K-PAX, AI, Fight Club, Nightmare Before Christmas, most sci-fi or fantasy

Favourite music: My own. If I didn't like it I wouldn't compose it.

Favourite foods: Fast food. I reluctantly avoid (with varying degrees of success) touching that stuff nowadays, since I'm on a quest recently to become a healthy individual...

The six things I could never do without
Food, basic clothing, a decent place to live, a few friends, the occasional intellectual challenge and plenty of alone time.
I spend a lot of time thinking about

My current projects (what they are varies over time). New ways to be creative. Philosophical questions. Theology. Paradoxes. Logical problems. And whatever else I forgot to mention.

Being an overly logical person, I used to have absolute faith in logic, that is, if anything was logically proven to be 100% certain I'd assume that it was 100% certain. I had a serious paradigm shift as I realized that in order to trust logic absolutely as a tool for deriving proof, you first have to prove that logic is indeed trustworthy as such. You can't do that without relying on logic. So these days I acknowledge that logic, as a concept, could potentially be flawed. I still believe in logic, but I now treat it as a faith rather than an absolute truth.

Yeah, stuff like that.

On a typical Friday night I am
Programming, composing music, doing something on the Internet or sleeping.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I'm willing to admit something here, then it's not really private at all.

I love semi-paradoxes.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 26–64
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends
You should message me if
...you're feeling serious and up for an intellectual exchange of ideas, or if you really want to get to know me.

Ok, that was a bit restrictive. Take two:

...you want to.

That said, I'm NOT looking for love or social networking. If any of that is your game and you don't already know me, then look elsewhere.
