My Notes edit
My self-summary
I'm high tech, but believe relationships with people are more important than technology. A nurse friend of mine inspired my handle ("HiTechHiTouch", if you're here from quickmatch) when she talked about how easy it was to focus on the machinery around a patient and forget that she must touch the soul inside to make it heal.
My life focus is changing from internal to external again. I'm trying to open windows to meet people, and it helps to be visible, duh! For reasons known only to the universe, I don't find close friends by hunting -- they just seem to find me. This is especially true of women!
My personality (Meyers-Briggs) is INTP, INFP, INTJ. I score very close to where the quads come together, and depending on how I feel, drift into one or the other -- most often, INTP.
What I'm doing with my life
My career as a computer professional started with mainframes and I stay current on M$ and Linux. I met my biochemist SO when we worked at a university a couple of states away, then her new job relocated us here.
I semi-retired and built a computer repair business from word of mouth while we looked for a house. Then we found one which I ended up gutting and rebuilding inside out. Both endeavors are winding down, especially since I realized I don't have to deal with Vista if I don't want to.
Now I want to focus on people and relationships again, have good conversations, learn from others, express my ideas, improve someone's quality of life. Life at home goes very well, but I've got plenty of time for doing things with new friends. Perhaps we will become FWB, enjoying fun, spiritual, and physical closeness.
I'm really good at
Listening well and being supportive are easy. I have merit badges for helping people through hard times like divorce, job troubles, situational depression.
My "Mr. Fixer" impulses can stay well hidden, but I'll gladly share my DIY talents or technical advice. (One lady had me over to fix her computer; then had me over to fix it "again", introducing me to a friend who hooked up with me for several years!)
I enjoy helping people have fun and celebrate good things. I used to play a lot with kids, taught church school, was a scout leader, volunteer class room tutor, but tapered off as my kids left and paranoia grew. I'm good with logistics, and creative problem solving.
Questions, what ifs, and the "real reason" behind things intrigue me. I made a good EDP security person because I could always see the holes in the system and ways it could be attacked. My "bs" meter is also very good!
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I don't watch commercials (which eliminates TV, and now movies in theaters), enjoy adventure/action DVD, and if I really love you, I'll stay to the end of a tear-jerker chick flick. Live plays and musicals are fun, likewise live music.
Occasionally music plays, NPR, c-w, jazz, and oldies are preset on the car radio. I only have 50 CDs and 500 .mp3s, but they cover but everything but hip-hop and rap.
Like European food, Tex-Mex, avoid the third world. But I will go with the group to almost any place, and often find something good on somebody's plate to order the next time.
I'm avoid NASCAR, the Colts, politics, and large noisy crowds. However, I will endure such if I REALLY want to hear the artist in concert or be with my companion(s).
The six things I could never do without
Books, Book stores, Libraries
Emotional Intimacy
Google, et. al.
Imagination
Physical Touch
I spend a lot of time thinking about
polyfidelity, polyamority: The idea of love not being exclusive is hard; hard for most people to accept, and sometimes hard to practice. But I'm poly, married to my primary, who has an active secondary relationship. My last secondary ended a couple of years back, and I know the universe has another lined up for me.
On a typical Friday night I am
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
You should message me if
Or if you just want to bitch, go ahead.
Or have fun and play "stump the chump"!
