My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a post-doctoral scholar who would love to find a self-assured, educated alpha female who naturally takes the lead role in both her professional life and her relationships, and would be interested in meeting a historian with scholarly and literary inclinations.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm currently in the midst of a postdoctoral fellowship in English history, doing some teaching, and doing research that will hopefully result in a published work in the near future.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Soccer and chess, housework
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books: The Power Broker (Robert Caro), Marlborough: His Life and Times (Winston Churchill), Crime and Punishment, Anna Karenina, Autumn of the Patriarch, 1984, The Magic Mountain, European modernism (Joyce, Kafka, Hamsun, Walser, Beckett, Marcel Schwob, Fernando Pessoa), French novelists (Gide, Bataille, Guyotat, Sartre, Camus), British C20th poets (Larkin, Ted Hughes, John Burnside). I also like Russian literature (Gogol, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Bulgakov) and have recently developed an almost fetishistic liking for Latin American writers (Roberto Bolano, Bioy Casares, Borges, Poniatowska, Julio Cortazar, Onetti, Piglia, Rulfo). Kjell Askildsen is my current favourite writer. Or possibly Witold Gombrowicz.

As far as music goes, I own literally thousands of albums, some of them ridiculously obscure, others unashamedly poppy. Currently listening to Sparks, XTC, Joanna Newsom, Chris Watson, Midlake, Wilco, Trembling Bells, Martin Carthty, Dave Swarbrick, Hefner, Satie, Animal Collective, Bjork, Belle & Sebastian, Fairport Convention, A Hawk & a Hacksaw, Bill Callahan, Flying Burrito Brothers, Abba and right at this very minute Hounds of Love by Kate Bush. Some composers that I like: Morton Feldman, Luciano Berio, Arnold Schoenberg, Olivier Messiaen, John Cage, Steve Reich. At the moment I am also enjoying any kind of music that involves the harpsichord, especially Bach's Harpsichord Concertos and Goldberg Variations.

I don't watch many films but I will watch anything directed by Lars von Trier, Wes Anderson, David Lynch and Pedro Almodovar. Le fabuleux destin d'Amelie Poulain is pretty fucking good too. I've recently seen and enjoyed a lot of French new wave stuff, particularly Last Year in Marienbad and films by Francois Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard.

There should be a space for art in this section. I like Remedios Varo, Leonora Carrington (who also happens to be a great writer), Max Ernst, Rene Magritte, Marcel Duchamp, Joan Miro, Joseph Beuys, Richard Long. Also, strangely enough, I like the pre-Raphelites. I have an interest in sound art, particularly that which is recorded from nature.

Food: I'll eat just about any type of cuisine. The spicier the better.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I prefer it when the woman takes charge both inside and outside the bedroom, and I've finally reached the point where I'm comfortable enough to be open about that preference.

You want a supportive man who will be comfortable in a relationship where it is mutually understood and agreed that you will be the primary decision maker.
