My self-summary

My name is Salynn, I'm an INFJ, If you do not know what that is, this would be the simplest description of the inner working of my brain (
I live in Las Vegas, NV. I'll be moving to Grand Rapids, MI in a couple/few months. Figured I might as well jump the gun a little and try to meet some new people ahead of time, so I'll potentially know more than my best friend I'm moving in with there. Looking for friends and such. That's it. I've never even been to Michigan so this will be an interesting move for me, to say the least.

I get a bad taste in my mouth out here. Aluminum, ash, like you can smell the psycosphere. People out here, it's like they don't even know the outside world exists. Might as we be living on the fucking moon. It's all one ghetto, a giant gutter in outer space.

System this, system that. You've heard it all before. The "system" is blamed for all the problems in the world. The system is the all encompassing boogie man of the left. But, what is the system? Some sort of vague term used to place blame on an unknown entity which allows people to excuse their own apathy? A giant machine which secretly runs all our lives? A convenient scapegoat when no other source can be found for the problems of the world? All of the above? The system is none of the above. When we refer to the system we are talking about the combination of two distinct forces. The system refers both to the bureaucracy of organized government and organized capitalism and to the philosophical notions of a hierarchical society.

When the founders of american government developed the "democratic" form of government outlined in the constitution they may have honestly believed that they were fashioning a society which could change as history and society progressed. However, they did not take into account the fundamental nature of stratified forms of control. The bureaucracy created by the new democratic form of government became a self-perpetuating order where the people involved become small parts of a larger whole. There are those who will argue that the government can be changed if only "good" people became involved in its process. To them we say that the process by which government operates, the hierarchies and bureaucracies which are intrinsic to it, cannot be changed within. They must be eliminated altogether and society must be restructured from the bottom up instead of the top down.

The modern economic world is created around a capitalist model of distribution. This is an authoritarian structure which does not base itself on the input of the populations which are the 'consumers" of the products produced. The supply and demand model where products are supplied based on consumer demand has been turned on its head. Corporations often create demand where none exists for products which are virtually useless. Through advertising, people's desires are manipulated and distorted until they believe that these products are vital to their existence. The corporate structure is such that any non-conformity is frowned upon and punished. An employee is expected to follow the corporate policy down the line from dress code to opinions about its products. Should any employee challenge any aspect of the policies of a corporation, they will soon find themselves unemployed and virtually blacklisted from future employment within the corporate world. The pervasiveness of larger transitional corporations within the field of employment opportunities is self evident. We do not wish to be a part of a society where obedience to the corporate policy is the primary concern for people who wish to survive. We encourage and support the creation of alternatives to this type of social structure.

Finally, there is a peculiar philosophical approach to life in modern, technological societies which incorporates both the social darwinism of capitalism and the apathy disguised as activism of so-called democracy. This philosophy is one where competition is considered the primary force for social change, where survival of the fittest is equated with the amassing of commodity and wealth, where voting every two to four years is considered political action, where donation of money is considered a viable means to social change. This is a philosophy of subservience and apathy. We do not wish to adhere to these principles. We will not compete with others for control of our lives. We will not pull a lever as an empty gesture of approval for a political system which ignores our needs. We will not consider the expense of a miniscule portion of our incomes as an act of social change. We will be active participants in the world around us. We will act on our behalf and on the behalf of others who desire our aid.

We have defined the system which we fight against. We understand that its omnipresence is virtually impossible to escape, but we condemn those that are unwilling to make an effort. The various factors which make up the system will not change if we simply accept them. The world that we dream of will not be crated if we accept the current one as just or valid. The problems that we attack will not vanish if we do not act to eliminate them. The system doesn't care because the system is you. Nothing ever changes because that's what you choose!
