My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm told I'm a very loyal friend, dependable, helpful, and I am always true to my principles though they do not always fall on lines that are on a well beaten path.

I am a scientist by profession and love problem solving and learning how stuff works, but all my hobbies and interest seem to be a bit more involved with pursuing that bit that science can't adequately define.

I often find myself admiring, laughing or smiling about the little ironies and details in the world and I'm constantly stopping to smell flowers.

I love a good adventure or turn of phrase and almost never turn down a chance to get out and have fun.

I'm looking for someone awesome to adventure with and to share.... well, stuff I guess.

I'd really just like to have a nice eventful peaceful but flawed life that means something more than the sum of it's pieces and isn't driven by the accumulation of wealth, possessions, or clout.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Edjamacating myself one read at a time.

looking for dare to be great moments!

trying to find my place in the world
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I am great with helping people... passing on smiles, making people forget about bad things, turning perspectives around.... that sort of thing.

Hugging.... I give excellent big hugs

I'm a pretty decent cook, handy on a trivia team, have a 98% win on freecell, and I can whistle and hum at the same time without stopping (I can do it inhaling and exhaling). I know, you're in awe, right?
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I guess the whole shaved head thing tends to stand out when you're 6'2. I tend to be a bit awkward at first and maybe a bit corny, but I open up quickly if I'm comfortable with people; the corny... it stays, but it's usually funny or witty so not too bad.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I love reading almost as much as I like writing when I find the time. History, philosophy, science, and the occasional fiction too. I've officially finished my dissertation and school and am looking forward to starting on the back log of books on my shelf! My last read was the hunger games series. But, my favorite book is "the way of the peaceful warrior." Big points if you've heard of it or read it (or seen the movie adaptation).

TV: big bang theory, how I met your mother, grimm, suits, californication, burn notice, weeds, wonderfalls, game of thrones, stargate, orange is the new black, Dr. Who, the walking dead, Supernatural, house of cards, news room, da foosball or occasional sports game. I don't like watching tv just to do something though. Usually I just DVR stuff and watch when I get some free time. I'd much rather be active and having fun with real people.
(Don't worry about the large # of shows; most of them are over/cancelled)

I LOVE movies. They seem to inspire me. They're not an escape from life, but they seem to free me from my own thoughts, especially if it's a good comedy, drama, or movie that involves a real story or personal growth.

Food is maybe my one great weakness.... besides all the others. I LOVE food. I learned how to cook by myself from scratch when I was 10 and have had a love affair with food and cooking since then. Chances are if it's good I've eaten it and or tried to cook it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I often find myself wondering, "do i really need/want this in my life?" And, I try to to chop off the excess and learn about me along the way, but for the purpose of an answer: long hot showers, free time to exercise and be with friends, wind (my favorite weather), something new to learn and bury my mind in, healthy food that taste awesome and makes me feel good, meaningful life goals to pursue, and good people in my life.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
- science.... What? It's my job and hobby. I love learning and pondering new things.

- What I want to do in my "spare" time and what I'm going to learn about next. (I'm leaning toward massage therapy at the moment)

-Where/how I can meet someone who will turn my life upside down and make me ever wonder how I got along without her.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
visiting friends, going to the gym, catching some tv or a movie, reading, relaxing, hanging out, and just general fun. I almost never say no to a good adventure. I find good things happen when I say "yes" and participate.

I'll go out to bars occasionally, but I hate smoke. I also had my times of drunken debauchery in college, but it's not for me anymore. It doesn't bother me when other people do, I just don't need it to have fun. I can be plenty stupid and fun without the alcohol, plus who doesn't love a designated driver.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I sing in the shower sometimes..... naked and all. And, I've also been known to sing along with my mp3 player regardless of how I sound... even in elevators. When journey comes on you have to go with it!

are a non-smoker if you want any sort of relationship. I have close friends that smoke but I'm not always happy to be around them because of it.

are interested in learning and growing as an ongoing part of your life. It's not my plan for a first date, but change and growth are big parts of my life.

don't refer to TV as your favorite past time. Personally, I don't understand why "reality tv" is so popular.

are not offended by my need to be open and fun sometimes and also very quiet and introspective at other times

are looking for a good friend or relationship. I'm really not one for shallow encounters or friends with benefits arrangements. I know who I am and that's not me.

If you've gotten to the end of this and are smiling. Seriously... send a note. I like meeting new people and making new friends.
