My self-summary
Well hey there random stranger. I'm Nick. A bit about me:

I'm generally good people. I'm told I'm a very loyal friend, dependable, helpful, caring, genuine, and I am always true to my principles though they do not always fall on lines that are on a well beaten path. People and doing what's right will always come first with me.

I am a scientist by profession, but all my hobbies and interest seem to be a bit more artistic or inspired by a more natural spirituality. It's an odd mix as I rely on my sharp sterling modest wit to navigate life.

I am constantly stopping to smell flowers and admire and learn about multitudes of beautiful people and things out in this big 'ol world of ours. As a rule I drop most anything for people I care about and things that seem right. It's sometimes to me detriment, but that's how I'm built.

I love a good adventure or turn of phrase and almost never turn down a chance to get out and have fun.

I'm looking for someone awesome to adventure with and to share.... well, stuff I guess.

I'd really just like to have a nice eventful peaceful but flawed life that means something more than the sum of it's pieces and isn't driven by the accumulation of wealth, possessions, or clout.
What I’m doing with my life
Edjamacating myself one read at a time.

looking for dare to be great moments!

trying to find my place in the world

Also: movies, soccer, basketball, golf, rollerblading, poker, working out, the occasional tv show or video game, trivia. I'm also into photography, reading/writing, learning, healthy living/eating.
I’m really good at
I am great with helping people... passing on smiles, making people forget about bad things, turning perspectives around.... that sort of thing.

Hugging.... I give excellent big hugs

I'm a pretty decent cook, handy on a trivia team, have a 98% win on freecell, and I can whistle and hum at the same time without stopping (I can do it inhaling and exhaling). I know, you're in awe, right?
The first things people usually notice about me
I guess the whole shaved head thing tends to stand out when you're 6'2. I tend to be a bit awkward at first and maybe a bit corny, but I open up quickly if I'm comfortable with people; the corny... it stays, but it's usually funny or witty so not too bad. Other than that.... feel free to let me know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love reading almost as much as I like writing when I find the time. History, philosophy, science, and the occasional fiction too. I've officially finished my dissertation and school and am looking forward to starting on the back log of books on my shelf! My last read was the hunger games series. But, my favorite book is "the way of the peaceful warrior." Big points if you've heard of it or read it (or seen the movie adaptation).

TV: big bang theory, how I met your mother, grimm, suits, burn notice, weeds, wonderfalls, da foosball or occasional sports game. I don't like watching tv just to do something though. Usually I just DVR stuff and watch when I get some free time. I'd much rather be active and having fun with real people.

I LOVE movies. They seem to inspire me. They're not an escape from life, but they seem to free me from my own thoughts, especially if it's a good comedy, drama, or movie that involves a real story or personal growth.

Food is maybe my one great weakness.... besides all the others. I LOVE food. I learned how to cook by myself from scratch when I was 10 and have had a love affair with food and cooking since then. Chances are if it's good I've eaten it and or tried to cook it.
The six things I could never do without
I'm kind of a minimalist often times, but for the sake of the question: long hot showers, free time to exercise and be with friends, wind (my favorite weather), something new to learn and bury my mind in, healthy food that tastes awesome and makes me feel good, meaningful life goals to pursue, and good people in my life.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- science.... What? It's my job and hobby. I love learning and pondering new things.

- What I want to do in my "spare" time and what I'm going to learn about next. (I'm leaning toward massage therapy at the moment)

-Where/how I can meet someone who will turn my life upside down and make me ever wonder how I got along without her.
On a typical Friday night I am
visiting friends, going to the gym, catching some tv or a movie, reading, relaxing, hanging out, and just general fun. I almost never say no to a good adventure. I find good things happen when I say "yes" and participate.

I'll go out to bars occasionally, but I hate smoke. I also had my times of drunken debauchery in college, but it's not for me anymore. It doesn't bother me when other people do, I just don't need it to have fun. I can be plenty stupid and fun without the alcohol, plus who doesn't love a designated driver.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I sing in the shower sometimes..... naked and all. And, I've also been known to sing along with my mp3 player regardless of how I sound... even in elevators. When journey comes on you have to go with it!

are a non-smoker if you want any sort of relationship. I have close friends that smoke but I'm not always happy to be around them because of it.

are interested in learning and growing as an ongoing part of your life. It's not my plan for a first date, but change and growth are big parts of my life.

are looking for a good friend or relationship. I'm really not one for shallow encounters or friends with benefits arrangements. I know who I am and that's not me.
