I'm not very good at selling myself so I keep it simple and honest.
I'm a nice and friendly guy who's enjoying my 30's and always
searching for good company. I love my career and family in general,
and I also know how to have a great time. I'm a blunt guy and I'm
jokey, but I'm also intellectual, kind, and extremely loyal. I know
how to treat people in general, and especially women, with the
respect they deserve. Also, I love hiking and the outdoors in
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a college history professor, and my students will attest that
I'm very geeky and passionate about it ;-). If you date me you will
be subjected to my historical impersonations at some point.
I’m really good at
Hiking, teaching, biking, beer and wine tasting, , memorizing book
and movie quotes, treating people with respect and being patient. I
never knew it until recently but I'm pretty good at remaining
logical and keeping people calm in a crisis. Oh, and my cooking is
somewhat limited but I have to say I do make KILLER chocolate chip
The first things people usually notice about me
I've been told I have a great smile and a loud voice!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
No way I can list everything here. My books mostly consist of
non-fiction (though I'm open to good fiction recommendations). I'm
a movie buff who loves seeing all the great films, provided they're
not horror flicks (sorry, those who love being scared, not my
I will provide a music/comedy list, there are all the artists in my
collection I have full albums from (which of course discounts my
hundreds of random songs): Alice in Chains, Arcade Fire, Bill
Hicks, Bright Eyes, Broadways, Cat Power, David Cross, Death Cab
for Cutie, Eels, Green Day, Jeff Ott, Lawrence Arms, Mountain
Goats, Nerf Herder, Nirvana, Okkervil River, Ozma, Patton Oswalt,
Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Stone
Temple Pilots, Temple of the Dog, Thermals, Weezer, Yeah Yeah
Yeahs. Always looking for new albums too!
I don't watch a lot of TV but I have a lot of favorite shows from
the last 20 years, I normally catch them on DVD. And my diet is not
super-picky, but I'm still not a big veggie guy, working on it! ;)
The six things I could never do without
Friends, family, teaching, mountains, pizza, and seasons! :)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My future, my career goals, potential future family, and what cool
Halloween costume I'm going to use for my classes next year
On a typical Friday night I am
Working late, but then getting out and about with friends and
grabbing a drink. I'm also often exploring Auburn's downtown scene.
I'm a somewhat avid movie theater goer, so I'm always there if
something looks good.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an autistic brother and it's made my entire family dynamic
different from the so-called "average" one. But I think we've done
OK for ourselves :)
And I will perform my own "Drunk History" lectures for people, but
very few have ever actually seen one.
You should message me if
You're looking for a hiking buddy, a fun guy to hang out with on
weekends, or someone to be a beer or wine snob with!
Or, for some random little understood references, you know all
about The Room, the greatest movie of all time (if not I will
expose it to you eventually if you know me long enough). Or, if you
one day want to visit Arizona Bay.
And I've seen a few ladies put this standard on here and it's a
good one; if you're one of those people who likes Ayn Rand just a
little too much, we're not likely to get along.
