My Notes edit

My self-summary

I'm pretty easy to get along with, as long as you want to get along with me. If you want to hate me, it's easy enough to find reasons to do that too. I'm accommodating like that.

I've got a very unique sense of humor. If it weren't for laughter, we probably wouldn't have a response to most of the things that happen in life(Name that quote and get a million bonus points. It's slightly paraphrased so Google isn't gonna do it for you). I can find something funny, or at least amusing, in just about any situation, though it may not always be appropriate.

I rarely make plans far in advance unless they're REALLY good plans. I've often ended up across the country for a week when a day before I had no thoughts of going anywhere. I decided to uproot from Florida and move to Chicago about 3 months before I got here. At some point I may grow roots. We'll see.

While I am easy to get along with, I'm pretty hard to impress. If you can manage to impress me, I'll be... well, impressed a 2nd time.

What I'm doing with my life

I moved to Chicago in August from Florida after getting my BS in Physics. Don't worry though, despite spending the better part of 4 years in a lab underground working in 14T magnetic fields at 100mK, I actually managed to develop social skills beyond those of an unpotty trained labradoodle.

I'm interviewing with companies right now trying to get a job as an options trader, but people seem hesitant to hire traders in a collapsing market. Weird. If I can't get that going, I'll be taking my LSATS and doing the law thing. Ideally I'd love to teach high school math and science, but the money isn't there so that'll have to wait until retirement.

I'm really good at

doing a poor job of summarizing my personality in a couple paragraphs. After rereading all this I realize I may not even recognize it as a description of myself if someone else had written it for me. Oh well...

Besides that, I do a fantastic job of not caring what other people think and having a good time. I'm good at keeping things in perspective and rarely get too upset over anything unimportant. I'm a hard guy to be unhappy around.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

I'm doing or saying something that they were thinking of doing or saying but decided not to.

I also usually as comfortable in how I act and talk around someone I've known for 5 minutes as I am around my best friend of nearly a decade. It definitely throws people off.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Let's start with 1984 or The Elegant Universe; The Departed or Closer; and Greenday or Kanye West (I really hate almost all rap, but the man has some talent).
I'll eat anything other than ramen... seriously.

The six things I could never do without

I could do without most things, I don't need much. 6 things I'd rather NOT do without? In no particular order and skipping the obvious friends and family nonsense:
1.) Internet (sad but true, at this point)
2.) Snickers
3.) Clean, matching socks, without holes in them (a commodity since getting a dog)
I'm having trouble coming up with 3 more things. Is it odd that to be happy in life I really only need clean socks, some candy, and an access to wikipedia and some web comics? Hmm...
4.) A mirror, cause c'mon... if you were me, you'd want to look at yourself
5.) Some sort of blanket or sheet. Hate sleeping uncovered
6.) I almost said my dog, but you know... sometimes, I COULD live without him (just kidding, I'd be pretty upset without my pal)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

weird physics problems, like choosing a driving radius to minimize the time it takes to go around a curve in the road (for some reason, that one gives me trouble. If you can answer it, you've made a good first impression). I rarely trouble others with those though.

That aside, I spend a lot of time thinking about the whole meaning of life thing. You know, what's important, the secret to happiness, why I can never seem to make pancakes as good as IHOP's. If I can get all that figured out by my late 20's it should make the next few decades go much smoother.

Oh, and I almost always have a song or movie quote stuck in my head that I'm trying to place.

On a typical Friday night I am

working, lately. Once I've gotten an adult 9-5 deal, I'll probably enjoy spending weekends exploring downtown.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I MAY have a burned CD that COULD have a Kelly Clarkson track on it... don't judge me.

You should message me if

there's something good about you that's worth finding out about. This should apply to most people.
