My self-summary

A 'self-summary'? So there's a few options here:

1. Write paragraphs on end detailing my life, the various choices I made surmounting obstacles during my adolescence; my ambitious nature that has driven me toward many accomplishments in life; my tendency to put others before myself, but quick to speak up if I feel taken advantage of; or that the true meaning of life is to live it and enjoy it- and that a mistake is merely an opportunity incognito.

2. Hey YO! Up hear in da hizzle, I be r0llin 20s down the col5ax proper with my shotties.

3. Insertion of various witty comments in an intelligently structured fashion that lends itself to insightful observation and keen dialectical exchanges.

What I'm doing with my life

By day I'm an IT cubicle monkey for a major mutual fund company. Some days I fling the poop, other days the poop flings me. I'm close to being a top poop flinger, but time will tell.

By night you'll either find me executing deft skills at the gym after work, cheering on DU's latest victory, re-capping an awesome powder day at Beau Jo's kicking back on the 19th hole, throwing Ippon, or just geeking out to the latest episode of Chuck and Heroes.

I'm really good at

Making people laugh- my humor is always witty, but varies from intellectual insight to monkeys flinging poo...just depends on my mood.

I grill a damn good bovine, and make tasty cinnamon sugar bananas.

On top of that- busting out some Liszt on the ivories; riding through powder on a gorgeous winter day; figuring out how and why something works.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

Let's cut to the chase on this one, I'm a big guy. Aside from being taller than most, I'm built more like a rugby player than a marathon runner. Once you get past that though, I'd have to say my eyes.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Way too many favorites to list...

Books: So even though my 'Personality Award' indicates 'Less Literary', I do enjoy reading- I just haven't had a lot of extra time to do that lately. When I do read, I tend to prefer the classics like Fahrenheit 451, 1984, East of Eden etc. At the same time I love good science fiction (contains political/social commentary)...e.g. Herbert, Heinlein, Adams, etc I'm also a sucker for a good Arthurian legend. As of late, Bernard Cornwell rocks my socks off with the Warlord Chronicles.

Movies: I'm a huge movie buff (gobs of DVDs)...some of my favorites include Run Lola Run, Brotherhood of the Wolf, Fight Club, Se7en, V for Vendetta, Happy Gilmore etc

If you like The Big Bang Theory we'll get along great!

Music: My musical tastes vary across the board, from Liszt, Chopin and Grieg; to Gershwin, Brubeck and Brad Mehldau; to Maroon 5, the Flobots and Rammstein.

Food: I'm a sucker for a great steak, but I'm generally pretty open to anything except seafood. Indian is awesome, as is Thai etc. I can't say I could live without a good brisket or baby back ribs either :-)

One of my favorite quotes: First They Came

The six things I could never do without

In all fairness, short of the obvious necessities of food, water, shelter, companionship (friends, family, awesome Abyssinian cat) etc. I really can't say there is much I *couldn't* do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Digitizing my DVDs to allow for on-demand access to any of my movies at any given time. Unfortunately this undertaking would require upwards of 15TBs of storage, and a ton of free time on top of that.

Yes I am aware of the inherent geekiness of this proposal, but hey, it's a challenge and I'm up for it ;-)

On top of that contemplating the 'how' and 'why' behind daily observations and activities (some much more profound than others)...for instance-

Why is it that a $5 dvd in the bin at Wally World is caked in anti-theft stickers and obnoxious packaging, whereas the $60 Xbox game has a single sticker for easy removal?

Recently I've just been thinking about powder days this winter! =)I'm just itching to ride some powder this winter!
