My self-summary
I grew up all-over, traveling through Europe and the Middle East, and as a result spellcheckers are constantly berating me for my inappropriate addition of the letter 'U', despite my strong sentiment that it adds verve and colour to otherwise bland sentences.

Nominally a New Yorker, I've just moved to Providence for work and I'm trying to get a handle on its character.

If you don't enjoy talking about politics, we probably won't get along. I've got a thing for Social Justice.

I'm a little suspicious of people whom OKCupid tells me are 0% my enemy. I have a long history of making enemies, and it worries me that I might be trying too hard.

I am constantly ridiculous and often accused of taking myself too seriously.

I like to think I have the ability to be tactfully blunt, but I may only be half right about that.

I say whatsitcalled a lot.
I’m really good at
Cutting to the Quick
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I like to read. A lot. On a variety of topics. I find few things sexier than good writing (I am a little gay for David Rakoff, RIP). But I fall for the trash like everybody else.

Movies: Any and All -- although I've always seen myself as a Sam Spade archetype, and have a soft spot for anything remotely approaching film noir.

Music: Nowadays, I Spotify - relying on my friends to inform me about music and I have long given up my Pitchfork days. A strong female vocalist is great (Wye Oak). Anything that's appropriate for listening to in a darkened room, glass of scotch in-hand goes over big. (Iron & Wine, Elliot Smith) Or if it makes me feel like I'm in a Guy Ritchie film (Massive Attack). As long as the song's got a soul, its more or less hard to go wrong -- and I find myself far too attracted to off-the-beat cover-songs (ever hear Jennifer Connelly's rendition of the Night has a Thousand Eyes?)

Food: I will never be a vegetarian. Sorry.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Philosophy - the what's and if's of the big picture. Occasionally even the what-if's. A big part of this is Social Justice.
