I am honest, creative, and stuff.
My Self-Summary
My sister recently told me that I'm complex. I don't feel complex,
but she knows me pretty well so it probably bears some truth.
In my daydream life I'm getting paid to make films and write
stories. In my real life, I'm making films and writing things
without the money and getting paid to sterilize surgical
instruments at a hospital. It's a close enough 2nd for now.
I tend to be a calm, rational person. I see all people as equal,
and driven by the same desire and right to happiness and
contentment. I'm a pacifist.
I'm an INFJ for those into that sort of thing.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm attempting this with various levels of success:
"I learned this, at least, by my experiment;
that if one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams,
and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet
with a success unexpected in common hours." - Henry David Thoreau
I’m really good at
Taking in new and varied information, applying it to totally
unrelated areas.
Also, adapting my outlook to account for new information.
Staying calm.
Thinking more than speaking, there's a few topics of conversation
where this is totally untrue though.
Solving problems creatively.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm quiet until I've gotten to know people, so probably that.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
In general, except for foods (one of these things is not like the
other ones?), I'm all over the genre map. If your music, writing,
film, doesn't have something worthwhile to tell me, it better be
pretty damned good aesthetically.
Books: anything by Joseph Campbell, HP Lovecraft, The Neverending
Story, Heart of Darkness, Watchmen, Sandman, Snow Crash, film
related books, Ender's Game, Slaughterhouse 5, Walden, more that
I'm not remembering....
Movies: Directors- Bergman, Kurosawa, Lang, Renoir, Tarantino,
Aronofsky, Miyazaki, Scorsese, Coppola, Ki Duk Kim, Christopher
Nolan, Guillermo Del Torro, Coens, Leone. Other films - Akira, The
Manchurian Candidate (the real one), Eyes Without a Face, Paprika,
Traffic, The Warriros, The Way of the Gun, Equillibrium, Hero, Hard
Boiled, Good Night and Good Luck, many more...
Music: Frodus, Tom Morello, Narcissus, the Blinding Light, Blue
Cheer, the Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Killers, Exmortus, Eric B. and
Rakim, Saetia, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Sun Ra, Circle Takes the
Sqaure, Hot Cross, Mew, Led Zeppelin, Metallica, Maylene and the
Sons of Disaster, Lengsel, At the Gates, Andrew W.K., The Black
Angels, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, The Gentle Guest,
Beirut, Mogwai, Dj Shadow, Converge, Cult of Luna, Neurosis, Murder
by Death, Mastadon, Neil Young's Deadman Soundtrack, more and more
and more,
Food: easier to go with things I don't like - tomatoes, watermelon,
celery, I'm iffy on seafood.
I don't watch TV, it's a lousy medium.
The six things I could never do without
Stories
Questions
Driving
Solitude
A few close friends
Change
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I'm fairly (ok, really) introspective, so I spend a lot of time
thinking about where I'm at, how I got here, what do I need to be
doing to be me, etc...
Plots, characters, scenes, shots, riffs, phrases, dialog,
images.
An amalgamation of philosophies, theologies, and other aspects of
humanity and the universe.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably working or at a movie, or making a movie.
