What I’m doing with my life
I'm really enjoying my job in home health care, and I'd love to
continue making a career out of it. It's some of the most rewarding
work I've done in my life. I'm also currently saving up for a
vacation to visit my family in Florida. The heat's going to kill
me, but my sisters are worth it.
I’m really good at
Sudoku, Tetris, and other puzzles like crosswords and fill-it-ins.
I also like to think I'm a capable singer. I won't make it on
American Idol, but I won't get us laughed off the stage of a
karaoke duet contest.
The first things people usually notice about me
I enjoy conversations, but sometimes I don't talk a lot. I consider
my words carefully before speaking. I'm pretty down to earth too.
It's extremely hard to offend or anger me unless you're heckling a
stand-up comic I like. Then the gloves come off. *smirk*
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Just finished Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Five stars!
The under 20 crowd probably won't get it 100%, but I thought it was
written just for me. Anything written by Daniel Pinkwater gets my
Movies: Quentin Tarantino's work like Pulp Fiction and Reservior
Dogs, goofy comedies like Kung Pow! and UHF, and romantic quests
like Ladyhawke and Stardust. I assure you, you should see Stardust.
And then see it again.
TV: I don't watch much tv nowadays, but I did enjoy Lie To Me with
Tim Roth. Recently I've been watching britcoms. Come Fly With Me
was teeth-clenchingly hilarious. I'm crossing my fingers for a
fifth series of The IT Crowd.
Music: I've been hooked on Florence and the Machine's new album
Ceremonials. Also looking to score Bertine Zetlitz albums, but
they're hard to get outside of the Netherlands. I always have some
new wave on my playlists as well. Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, etc.
The 80's were a gold mine for me, musically.
Food: I am one with pizza, and it is within me. Chinese and I get
along well, minus the shrimp. I like making lasagna at home, but I
still need practice. Now brownies... brownies are my speciality. I
make 'em so soft and fluffy they make Snuggle Bear look like a
cinder block made of sandpaper and broken glass.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How far we've come as a species, what amazing feats our technology
has made us capable of, and what new dangers they bring about. How
we're so special and unique and beautiful, and yet we're the only
intelligent lifeform we know of living on a tiny blue dot in the
vast sea of the cosmos. I think it's exhilerating.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
*wince* I must admit a valley girl accent is a massive secret
turn-on for me.
