My self-summary
I'm a creatively-oriented philosophy nerd with a very dry sense of humor. I like to talk about and play with ideas of all kinds, from existential philosophy to what would have happened if Sam Raimi had directed Titanic.

My motto is "There's something we haven't seen before; let's look at it and maybe poke it with a stick".
What I’m doing with my life
I work in admissions for an online college, getting people into school. When I'm not doing that, I'm trying to break into sci-fi short story writing.
I’m really good at
I think I'm a pretty good writer. Daily Science Fiction seems to agree with me; my very first submission to them made it to the final round before it got shot down, and I'm only getting better.

I'm not bad on classical guitar, either. I've been pretty good at playing songs by ear most of my life, whether it's on the piano, on the flute (back when I still knew how to play the flute), or now on the guitar.

I'm also good at ALMOST winning at Settlers of Catan.
The first things people usually notice about me
My keen sense of direction and my excellent sense of rhythm.

Nah, kidding, they notice my head.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Authors: Lewis Carroll, H.P. Lovecraft, Jules Verne, Arthur Clarke, Jack Vance

Movies: The Cabin in the Woods, The Godfather, Inception, 28 Days Later, and of course Star Wars. I've also got a soft spot for Disney.

TV Shows: Doctor Who, House, The Walking Dead, Archer, Law & Order, Futurama, Firefly, The Twilight Zone

Music: My music tastes are all over the map, but if I had to name a favorite band, it's probably Rhapsody of Fire. Sweeping and soaring symphonic power metal + hilariously mispronounced, grammatically weird lyrics in a magma-thick Italian accent = an incredibly good time. I'm also big on The Lonely Island.

Food: Sushi, Italian, and I'll never say no to a good fish & chips.
The six things I could never do without
My guitar.
Books. Lots of books. All the books. All of them.
My glasses, so that number two doesn't turn into a Twilight Zone episode.
Sushi access. The fish must flow.
My computer
My iPod
I spend a lot of time thinking about
New story ideas. Writing's what I love, even if I'm paying the bills with other things for now.
On a typical Friday night I am
Most likely, hanging out with my friends laughing at terrible movies. Less likely, reading and/or Netflixing. I work Saturdays, so Friday's low-key.

My full days off always seem to turn into biking exploration days, even if -- especially if -- I never intended them to.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
With proper disassembly, I can fit into most overhead storage compartments. The reassembly can be difficult, though.
