My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm passionate about life, and learning, and horsies, and stuff and things. Statistically speaking I am of above-average intelligence (if that sort of thing intimidates you, I suggest you move along), I make moderately funny Your Mom/That's What She Said jokes, and... I always know where my towel is.

Above all, I'm a staunch existentialist: existence precedes essence, no inherent meaning, we create our own purpose, to do is to be, ultimate freedom = ultimate burden, etc. That line of thought directs the vast majority of my behavior.

I am in an open relationship with this Aussie cunt. We more closely identify with the "free love" attitude of decades past than with the militant polyamorism of today. I like to go with the flow. I get not wanting to conform to societal norms; I don't get wanting to be so rigidly defined by your relationship habits!

So come on, let's get acquainted!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Bueno, soy una maestra de español... but that somehow doesn't seem to fully convey everything my job entails. I do my part to effect social change through education.

I'm also organizing a summer trip to Spain (AND Gibraltar, AND Morocco) for students, and a trip to Australia/NZ for us. I love travelling, but I REALLY love planning it out.

Not that I'm not spontaneous.

I travel, volunteer, tutor, and write about the amazing tenets of atheism. Other stuff, too, like feeling a severe nostalgia for the 90s. The 1890s! (This is a half-joke; not a reference to some affinity for steampunk.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
learning languages easily, and anything language or linguistics related is an enormous passion of mine. Currently learning Portuguese.

Knowin' stuff. People often say, "How do you know that?" I don't know. I just do.

Losing myself in the sea of "grey area" that exists between black and white dichotomies.

Making situations awkward by laughing at seemingly inappropriate times. It's a coping mechanism.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
"Wow I like your glasses" has almost completely replaced "Wow nice tits". I like neither.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Classic murder mysteries (Poirot/Holmes), sci-fi/fantasy, historical fiction, non-fiction (philosophy, history, humanities, politics, biographies/autobiographies), and anything absurd or surreal. Currently reading The Ladies of Grace Adieu (and Other Stories) (Susanna Clarke).

Movies and TV: Anything related to Top Gear UK, Monty Python, That Mitchell & Webb Look, IT Crowd, QI, Saxondale, Chaser's War on Everything, Big Fat Quiz of the Year, MST3K, Jon Stewart, Bruce Campbell, Pedro Almodóvar, or Quentin Tarantino. El Topo and Don't Look Now! are great. Honestly this category is so overwhelming I can't include everything.

Music: 60s and 70s prog rock, ambient/psychill, 80s pop synth, ANYTHING 90s, black/prog/folk metal, blues, bluegrass, Texas honky tonk, merengue, bachata, reggaetón, música foclórica. Oh, and Metallica. Duh. Listening to a lot of All Them Witches lately.

Food: Sushi, sauteed kale, this new amazing couscous salad I've created. Mostly everything.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My music library
A prefrontal cortex
Irony and absurdity
God (haha just kidding)
A will to power
The intimacy of eye contact
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
"What was Wenger thinking, sending Walcott on that early?" The thing about Arsenal is, they always try and walk it in.

Let's be honest, it doesn't matter.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
pissing the night away. I drink a whisky drink, I drink a vodka drink, I drink a lager drink, I drink a cider drink.

I sing the songs that remind me of the good times, I sing the songs that remind me of the best times.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I've been greying since 9th grade.
I was born in the wrong decade.
I spend a lot of time studying people's hands.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
Okay, well, I hate to be one of those people who says "I don't message first", but the last time someone actually responded to one of my thoughtful, genuine, well-written conversation openers, he asked me to guess how many fingers he could fit in his mouth.

I'm generally considered an intuitive and "aware" person, yet so many of my experiences with people make me seriously question whether I know anything about anything (or shit about fuck, as Robin Williams once wisely said). It seems even the most blatant and direct displays of attraction or interest are really nothing of the kind, and of course I'm left wondering if it's me or them that's the problem. I tend to lean toward the former.

This isn't to say I refuse to initiate conversation or that you should feel obligated to do so, but I just wanted you to know where my head is.

That was probably way too intimate for an online dating profile. I feel kind of raw now.
