My self-summary
You’ve come across a tall Virginia boy who brought his manners and “howdy”s up north, but who only hunts for good Thai places (and rarely in camo).

I have a soft spot for witty banter, sweatshirt weather, adventures, NPR, making people laugh, and jogging in places where barking dogs do not exist.

Proudest feats include a year in AmeriCorps and a cross-country bike trip. Also I once convinced Bob Saget to record my voicemail…

My favorite people tend to be those who will quietly discuss a New Yorker article about health care then binge drink to win a game; who will hike a mountain then waste an afternoon joking around on the couch; who will listen attentively to others then enrich a conversation with vivacity and wit. In other words, those who don’t feel the need to be something in particular (and can therefore enjoy doing all kinds of things).

What I’m doing with my life
SAT tutoring the Richie Riches of the world up in Westchester while starting a corporate responsibility non-profit on the side
I’m really good at
Enduring awkward situations
Organizing events
Over-analyzing everything
A frightening rendition of The Robot dance move (that's been compared to the Terminator)
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm tall. Probably also my tendency to recommend nerdy things like Tolstoy or Radiolab.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Anna Karenina, War & Peace, The Little Prince, The Origins of Virtue, The Stories of Anton Chekhov, Harry Potter, Guns Germs and Steel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Outliers, Please Understand Me II, Madame Bovary, and I Am America (And So Can You!).

MOVIES: The Royal Tenenbaums; It’s A Wonderful Life; The Shawshank Redemption; Apocalypse Now; the Star Wars, Back to the Future, and Before Sunrise trilogies; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Borat; Groundhog Day; and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

SHOWS: The Colbert Report, Freaks & Geeks, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Parks and Rec, Louie

MUSIC: The Arcade Fire, The Beatles, Etta James, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Simon. I feel like I listen to a little bit of everything but when I turn on the radio I feel so out of touch because I don’t know any of it.

FOOD: I'm a vegan but I'm seriously not one of THOSE vegans (I cannot emphasize this enough). I really don't care what you eat (unless it's olives...that will gross me out). I also really like cereal. Visitors to my apartment usually compliment and/or mock my 10-15 box cereal shelf.
The six things I could never do without
Box fan
Creative projects
People to talk to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Seinfeld-esque petty rules of life
The films I watch & books I read
Potential adventures to go on
How to do good by others
How to be happiest
Whether the second avenue subway construction is really just the cover for an elaborate, Oceans 11-style heist from an uptown bank
On a typical Friday night I am
With great people throwing a couple back, watching a movie, playing a board game (watch out, I get competitive), getting up to some mischief, exploring, or attending an off-the-beaten-path kind of event.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once considered myself a Creed fan. I was young and impressionable...
You should message me if
You’re whip smart, outgoing, sassy, energetic, and kind to a fault. You’d have aced organizational skills if it were a class. If you didn’t love Amy Poehler so much you’d be wondering why you weren’t the one cast as Leslie Knope.

Playful, sarcastic banter is a native language of yours, but so is the sincere, meaty discussion.

You care an awful lot about the people around you and the world at large, but you still love some dark humor and can laugh when it feels like everything’s going to hell (cough cough Trump presidency cough).

And you’re looking for a kick-ass equal.
