My self-summary
You’ve come across a tall Virginia boy who brought his manners and “howdy”s up north, but who only hunts for good LivingSocial deals (and rarely in camo).

I have a soft spot for witty banter, sweatshirt weather, adventures, NPR, making people laugh, and jogging in places where barking dogs do not exist.

Proudest feats include a year in AmeriCorps and a cross-country bike trip. Also I once convinced Bob Saget to record my voicemail…

My favorite people tend to be those who will quietly discuss a New Yorker article about health care then binge drink to win a game; who will hike a mountain then waste an afternoon joking around on the couch; who will listen attentively to others then enrich a conversation with vivacity and wit. In other words, those who don’t feel the need to be something in particular (and therefore can enjoy doing all kinds of things).

What I’m doing with my life
SAT tutoring the Richie Riches of the world up in Westchester and starting a non-profit on the side
I’m really good at
Enduring awkward situations
Organizing events
Over-analyzing everything
A frightening rendition of The Robot dance move (that's been compared to the Terminator)
The first things people usually notice about me
That I'm tall. Probably also my tendency to drunkenly recommend nerdy things like Tolstoy or Radiolab.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Anna Karenina, War & Peace, The Little Prince, The Origins of Virtue, Guns Germs and Steel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Madame Bovary, and I Am America (And So Can You!).

MOVIES: The Royal Tenenbaums, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Shawshank Redemption, Apocalypse Now, the Star Wars and Back to the Future trilogies, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Borat, Groundhog Day, and Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.

SHOWS: The Colbert Report, Freaks & Geeks, Seinfeld, Breaking Bad, The Wire, Parks and Rec

MUSIC: The Arcade Fire, The Beatles, Etta James, Sufjan Stevens, Paul Simon. I feel like I listen to a little bit of everything but when I turn on the radio I feel so out of touch because I don’t know any of it.

FOOD: I'm a vegan but I'm seriously not one of THOSE vegans (I cannot emphasize this enough). I really don't care what you eat (unless it's olives...that will gross me out). I also really like cereal. Visitors to my apartment usually compliment and/or mock my 10-15 box cereal shelf.
The six things I could never do without
Box fan
Eight hours of sleep
People to talk to
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The Seinfeld-esque petty rules of life
How the people on the Jersey Shore can actually exist as real people
The films I watch & books I read
Potential adventures to go on
How to do good by others
How to be happiest
On a typical Friday night I am
...out drinking, watching a movie, playing a board game (watch out, I get competitive), getting up to some mischief, exploring, attending a weird event and/or something else that I’ve never done.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once considered myself a Creed fan. I was young and impressionable...

You love to be scathingly, sarcastically critical of life’s absurdities but also joyously optimistic about and active with life at the same time.
