My Notes edit

My self-summary

Ten facts about me:
1) I prefer short stories over novels and magazines over newspapers.
2) When doing karaoke, I try my best to actually sound good. This rarely works.
3) I bake a mean cheesecake.
4) I dislike small talk. I prefer launching into complicated topics as soon as possible.
5) I'm usually in the process of learning about some obscure topic or another, like Orca social arrangements, or the rise of the cannon in Renaissance warfare.
6) I love absurd hypothetical questions, especially if they involve desert islands.
7) I actually find puns very amusing. I'm a big fan of word play in general.
8) I'd really like to save the world. At least once.
9) I've got a lot of hypotheses and a handful of theories. I also know the difference between a hypothesis and a theory.
10) I have a very deadpan style of humor, which amuses some people and confuses the rest.

What I'm doing with my life

Being a crusading journalist and ferreting out the lies and corruption that infect the city like a malign brain fever slowly choking the life out of all that's good, decent and pure and leaving naught but a barren moral desert behind.

In between these moments, I write about people who dress up their pets. Some use rhinestones. Others use feathers.

I'm really good at

Witty repartee. Scrabble. Making zombie apocalypse survival plans. Juggling. Pasta sauce making. Cheesecake baking. Writing (good enough to get paid for it, at least).

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Infinite Jest, Amphigorey, Autobiography of Mohandas K. Gandhi, Praise, Women, Jimmy Corrigan: the Smartest Kid on Earth, Language in Thought and Action, the Sandman series, Civil Warland in Bad Decline, Consider the Lobster, The Story of B

Movies: The Plague Dogs, Johnny Got His Gun, Six String Samurai, The Cube, Pi, Josie and the Pussycats, Tezuka's Metropolis

Music: Sleater-Kinney, Tilly and the Wall, Electrelane, Thunderbirds Are Now!, Pterodactyl, Le Loup, You Say Party! We Say Die!, I'm From Barcelona, Tender Forever, the Kinks, David Bowie, Chopin, M83, the B52s, At the Drive-In, Controller.Controller

Food: Basil, cherry tomatoes, barbecue, pasta, balsamic vinegar, garlic, scallions

The six things I could never do without

1) Notebook and pens.
2) My glasses
3) Coffee
4) A computer with Internet
5) Olive oil
6) (this space for rent, inquire with owner)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think a lot about the world. I have a lot of pet theories about how the world and how people work, which I tend to cycle through and discard very quickly. I'm really interested in the world. I know that the world is full of chaos and randomness and that trying to figure things out is probably futile but I can't help but feel like there's got to be SOME sort of pattern here that I can use to make sense of things, something that explains my everyday life. So, I keep thinking. I'm really interested in politics and political systems, philosophy and psychology. I've got a hungry mind, I guess.

On a typical Friday night I am

On a train to New York, a car to Philadelphia or still in the office, writing. Depends entirely on the Friday.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I believe in revolution.

You should message me if

If you're intellectually curious, a good conversationalist and not afraid of some good natured debate. An idealistic outlook and an creative temperament is also a plus. You can also IM me - my name's Cthulu Lite.
