I am happy, tenacious, curious, insightful, and much more!.

My Self-Summary

If I had to pick six adjectives to describe myself, I would say that I'm independent, honest, responsible, dependable, smart, and fun. If I had to pick seven, I would keep the first six, and then add one additional arbitrary adjective to complete my new self-imposed requirement.

I am a fan of wordplay, puns, and deadpan delivery. I enjoy crossword puzzles, sudoku, brain teasers, and trying to understand the fairer sex, with varying degrees of success at each. I find both intelligent discussion and nonsense banter equally entertaining.

I enjoy working (white collar desk jockey; paper dragon slayer extraordinaire), playing (both indoors and outdoors), and laughing (preferably 24/7). I also enjoy teasing people who use an overabundance of parentheses.

I have a degree in geology, used to own my own computer business, and now work in medical devices. I also teach a couple classes each semester at Ivy Tech. It's amazing how much I learn when I teach - about other people, my craft, and myself. I love it!

What I’m doing with my life

Striving to be amongst the best at my profession, volunteering as much as I can without letting it become onerous or obsessive, and looking for a lady friend who can add a greater level of satisfaction (a.k.a. intelligence, charm, beauty, completeness, challenge, energy, fun, humor, confusion, etc.) to my life.

I’m really good at

Finding answers/solutions, wordplay, fixing things without resorting to duct tape or super glue, learning, teaching, computers, and trying new things.

Oh, and vacations without a set itinerary! I took a 2+ week drive to Cali and back over xmas. I planned roughly how many days I wanted to stay in each state and the major highways (US40 to Cali, US70 back) I'd travel. The rest was on the fly: meteor crater, grand canyon, ship rock, 4 corners, vegas, hoover dam, arches, bryce, zion, canyonlands, dead horse point, grand staircase, rocky mntn national park, pikes peak, etc. This trained geologist had the vacation of a lifetime!

The first things people usually notice about me

Either my hair or my set of eyes. One has been referred to as "intelligent", and the other hangs almost to my waist. I'll leave it to you to figure out which is which.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books by Bryson, Gleick, classics, mysteries, historical, and just about anything I consider to be well-written.

I enjoy listening to classical, jazz, classic rock, and basically any skilled musical performance, and I enjoy most movies.

I like nearly any food. I'm a fan of dark chocolate, but otherwise eschew sweets/ice cream in favor of fruit for dessert. From around my shoulders on up I love super spicy food. Unfortunately, the rest of me has put out a contract on my head and shoulders.

The six things I could never do without

Achieving my goals (while making sure I enjoy the journey)

Close friends

Reading

Helping/volunteering

Staying in reasonable physical shape (I intend to enjoy the years to come!)

The NEED for more than 6 things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Life, the universe, science, understanding the world we live in, skepticism, and how to be a better me (e.g., how to learn faster, how to understand more fully, how to teach better).

Oh, and how to read more books! I'm constantly amazed at how little time I have left to read anymore. I had minor surgery a year ago and had a week off - I was in heaven! I got to read and read and read. Unfortunately, I was on meds and I don't remember most of the books - but it sure was fun! =)

On a typical Friday night I am

Volunteering right after work, then I either go exercise at the park or head home to plan my weekend, play a game, and read a good book.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have 2 (possibly more) left feet but am willing to look ridiculous on a dance floor and I sing to myself when I'm pretty sure nobody's listening.

Also - apparently I am a DGLD (the slow dancer).

You should message me if

You want to go hang out on a non-date with absolutely no expectations beyond getting mentally acquainted and you recognize I am not looking for an online chat-buddy - I want to find a HWP* woman to meet in real life and become friends and possibly more.

HWP = height-weight proportional. I watch what I eat and I exercise - I expect the same, it's healthy! =)
