My self-summary
I like investigating ideas, poking at objects, and observing behaviour, be it of people, pigeons, plants or particles.

I like to hypothesize and figure out ways to test my hypotheses. Implementing these tests is rarely practical, however.

I am typically pretty rational and straight forward, though I can also be pretty shy and silly.

I feel I should add that while I still pop on here from time to time, I haven't really been using this site much at all the past few months. I expect that will continue to be the case.
What I’m doing with my life
I am presently studying biology at YorkU and vacillating over future plans. Ideally I'd like to find someone to pay me to do something I'd happily do for recreation, like science.

I have just started working in an entomology lab on a particular genus of bee.

I started jogging recently and I love it.
I’m really good at
being pedantic. Some people think that this is not a good thing, fortunately I am quick to correct them.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I am quite tall.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I am a huge fan of Katharine Kerr, particularly her Deverry series. Douglas Adams is also a favourite, along with Terry Pratchett. I've become quite the fan of Stephen Jay Gould in the past couple of years as well - that man had a good brain. In terms of assorted books, Ender's Game is excellent, Your Inner Fish, Mists of Avalon, The Dispossessed by Ursula LeGuin, Stranger in a Strange Land was good, if you ignored the rape apology and the victim blaming, but on the whole I loathe Heinlein (this is probably mostly a function of having read I Will Fear No Evil.)

Recently I've been watching a lot of Community, Parks and Recreation, and Bones.
The six things I could never do without
Feminism, and a variety of other social movements.
Science!
Tabletop RPGs and dice with more than 6 sides.
Acetyl co-enzyme A and material to deal with problematic bi-products.
Something interesting to read.
Some amount of social interaction with peers.

Coffee - this nomination is only honourary.

On a typical Friday night I am
My Friday nights are pretty variable at present. It might include playing D&D, or Settlers of Catan until the wee hours, the occasional movie, or drinking with some friends. Or possibly some combination of the above.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I find it rather creepy when people select age ranges that aren't more or less centred around their own age.

And amusing when the range squishes up against a decade on one side or the other.

I am a switch.
I’m looking for
  • Everybody
  • Ages 22–36
  • Near me
  • For new friends, activity partners, long-distance penpals
You should message me if
you are also at least a bit of a switch.
