I have spent the last 25 years (where did the time go?) raising my three children in southern Rhode Island. Throughout those years, I was also a teacher, editor, writer, small business owner, marketing director, barn manager (not necessarily all at the same time). I moved to Providence nearly six years ago to be closer to my children's schools. While I enjoy many aspects of city life (I can walk anywhere, work is plentiful, the restaurants are fabulous), sometimes I feel a little odd: a single mom living in a neighborhood of upper middle class families. I cherish my alone time, but in the last few years, I have begun to feel a need to connect with someone who wants to share the simple, ordinary, extraordinary things in life with me. As my kids (26, 20, 19) reach for lives of their own, I find myself with a lot more free time (whole weekends often). I am not looking for a man to rescue me: I am a happy, secure, independent woman and I am comfortable in my own skin. Rather, I would like to meet someone who would like to discover, together, all that this empty-nest of mine has to offer. I love to laugh, travel, enjoy affection, admire honesty, and I see the years ahead as a great opportunity, a time for adventure. I think it would be a hell of a lot more fun to do it hand-in-hand.
