My self-summary
I love life. I have taken my share of lumps, but I'm one of the happiest people I know. I dream big and fall hard, but I wouldn't change if you paid me. I am stubborn, yet completely open-minded. I am a shy person with a lot to say. I am sensitive to a fault and fiercely logical.

Yup. I'm your standard, living, breathing contradiction. It must sound intimidating, but it's the truth.
What I’m doing with my life
Just graduated college! Yay! Now I have to figure out what's next. In the meantime, I'm working at an ESL school, reading up on service programs, and doing a lot of art.

Eventually, I want to work with people in a multitude of ways. I want to teach, learn from, motivate, listen to, and inspire people of all sorts. Currently cooking up a few schemes on how to accomplish these verbs.

All I really want to do is help people. I want to help people live the best possible life they can given what they have to work with...and I want to help them believe that such a reality is possible. I want to talk to as many people as possible about their ideas so that I can put people with similar ideas together and get shit done.
I’m really good at
... listening
... cooking, though I'm more of a baker
... looking at the bright side :)
... losing pens :(
... breaking technology :[
... creating [and maintaining] awkward situations
The first things people usually notice about me
Dunno... you tell me. It used to be the hair, but I cut it off to donate a while back
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Okay, let's see...

Books:
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Tao of Pooh, The Tipping Point, Dandelion Wine, The Illustrated Man, Cat's Cradle, A Man For All Seasons, A Separate Peace, The Importance of Being Earnest, Ender's Game, I Am A Strange Loop, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

I read a lot of philosophy texts, journal articles, and non-fiction.

All right, all right...I know. A Song of Ice and Fire is an epically awesome series...I'm reading A Game of Thrones now [UPDATE: I'm like 25% through Clash of Kings...which means I might just catch up by the time Martin publishes the 7th]

Movies:
What About Bob?, Fight Club, 10 Things I Hate About You, Good Will Hunting, X-Men, The Big Lebowski, Almost Famous, Dead Again, Everything Is Illuminated, Garden State, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, Disney/Pixar Films (Fantasia is my favorite), Benny & Joon, Labyrinth, Star Wars (IV, V, VI), LOTR trilogy

I wish I was more into movies. Honestly, I usually fall asleep when I'm sitting still for that long.

Shows:
Psych, Doctor Who, Scrubs, Friends, Firefly, BBC's Sherlock, NCIS, Dexter, It's Always Sunny, Clone High, Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Spaced

Music:

I once asked my metalhead roommate if liking Alice In Chains and Nirvana meant that I was into grunge...he might have told me to move to Seattle

...here are the highlights:

Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Modest Mouse, PAUL SIMON, Elliott Smith, CHILI PEPPERS, Alice In Chains, BECK, Incubus, Radiohead, Bowie, Sufjan Stevens, Third Eye Blind, VAST, Goldfish, The Clash, The Shins, The Strokes, The Ramones, Weezer (fuck yeah, I still like the Blue Album), Tool, The Cranberries, JONI MITCHELL, Days of the New, BRMC, Kyuss, Clapton (in any manifestation), Röyksopp, Spoon, the Cardigans, the Flaming Lips, El Ten Eleven, Zero 7, and so much more!

I have been known to enjoy jazz, classical, metal, bad 90's, worse 80's, and most classic rock.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
How we as individuals are so loosely connected to a shared reality... but was a philosophy major, so it's not that weird

What to do next...I'm talking small and large scale here...this means I'm a scatterbrain with multiple to-do lists

How [and where] to build the perfect tree house

Why the word "palindrome" isn't a palindrome, why the word "lisp" has both an /l/ and an /s/ in it, and other similar conundrums

The ultimate 'two truths and a lie'...I'm a camp counselor and I always will be!
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, painting cardboard on my kitchen floor with my roommates, the coolest people I know.

But what is typical?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I truly believe that I have a spiritual connection to Vincent Van Gogh.
I’m looking for

I'm interested in friendship as much as I am romance, possibly more.

UPDATE: I'm NOT ignoring you personally, I'm just non-discriminatorily flaky...I have no excuse for not replying to your message...I'm not sure if okCupid says I'm "very selective" in replying to messages, but I'm not! I'm just busy and kind of a mess :/ but I hope that updating my profile inspires me to seriously talk to people on this site again, because it can be an incredibly rewarding experience
