I am tall, slim, and a geek...

My Self-Summary

I'm 23 years old, I was born in Scotland, but grew up in Derby so annoyingly lost the accent. Went to uni up north in Durham, and i've now by complete chance ended up working here in Cambridge.

I work for a games company, and you may think that means I spend all day playing games...well your wrong....just most of it. I work with a team of people designing and creating games for a website, which is great fun, stressfull, can be a high work load but can often result in some surreal days at work.

I like to think I have a good sense of humour, can sometimes be a bit sarcastic, and I will say things for the joke before maybe taking into account my surroundings...but its not got me into trouble, yet.

I'm easy going, I don't find myself holding grudges, and enjoy socialising with as many different types of people as possible.

I don't tend to organise things to much, my holidays are often last minute affairs with no real structure. Yes this means they can sometimes go wrong, but some of my best holiday stories are the result of no planning and preparation. I'm apprantly going to walk the length of Hadrians wall in about a month...simply because a friend rang me up last week and suggested it!

I've been single for some time now, and work is now going steady, life is all settled here in Cambridge, and i'm keen to start finding someone to spend my evenings and weekends with.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, as my summary says, I work 9-6 working for a games company being all "creative" and making internet computer games. This is great fun, and although is very stressful sometimes, its generally a nice light-hearted enviornment to be in.

In my spare time, I have a big interest in movies. I like to go to the cinema a lot (these days every week it seems), and I keep meaning to get one of those CineWorld monthly passes. I buy far too many DVDs and enjoy a night in watching a random movie or tv series.

I love comedy, being down south now I want to take advantage of being near London, I fancy seeing some tv comedies being filmed, or watch a few standups doing their tours in London and Cambridge.

I also have a big interest in magic, before Uni I started learning quite a bit with a plan to earn some money performing in restaurants, busking and the like, but I got waaaayyy out of practice, however now i'm very eager to get back into this.

I’m really good at

I feel i'm good a defusing tough situations, finding the common ground for people to agree on, often using humour to calm a situation down with.

I like to think that I can have a decent conversation with most people, I can seem shy in large groups, but I can be extremely talkative, a few friends have often refered to it as Jackanory with Iain when I have had a few drinks and get chatting away, I can apparantly "spin a good tale"...I think thats a compliment.

Although i'm not always organised, I always take responsibility for my own actions, and will help others out if needed.

The first things people usually notice about me

I can appear at first sight as shy, introverted and very nerdy. But when you speak to me you'll find i'm really not. A lot of friends have commented in the past that I wasn't what they expected when they first met me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I can never pick out specifics examples when it comes to lists like this, so I guess I'll just give some vague (possibly useless) descriptions :D

Movies - Really enjoy my movies, and I literally watch anything. I love a film with a twist though, something that builds up and up and sends that tingly sensation down your spine...Usual Suspects, Fight Club, Seven, Saw that sort of thing. Horrors and thrillers I love too, along with unusual sci-fi films, maybe involving some dystopian/alternative future.

Books - Very much the same style of films. I do like sci-fi and fantasy, but I can never get into anything to serious, comedy usualy works best with me, or something distinctly unusual about the story. Again horror and thrillers are a safe bet with me too.

Music - I'm very much a rock sort of person. Into the whole Brit-pop of 90s thing too. Muse, Mooney Suzuki and Gorillaz are currently being played at work a lot. I also enjoy dance/techno/whatever its called music too, Oribital, DJ Shadow, Prodigy, 2ManyDJs ect, they are often being played at work too.

Food - I love Chinese, Seafood, a good Curry, Fish and Chips, Steak, Piripiri Chicken... I live surrounded by takeaways, which is sometimes sooooo good...but it really isn't.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Seriously, my mind can be soooo empty its not funny. I can often sit and people watch, with literally nothing going on up there, but its so nice to be able to just relax and empty my head.

Otherwise, what is going on up there, probably isn't of any real importance to the human race...

On a typical Friday night I am

Friday night can pan out in different ways.

If I go out, i'm usually wondering around several bars and pubs with a small group of friends and friends-of-friends. I enjoy going to places where we can sit and talk, get nicely drunk before then maybe moving onto somewhere a bit louder to end the night.

Sometimes we might have a BBQ, houseparty or something. Maybe go to the cinema and spend a quieter/cheaper night relaxing.

Or I'll give the friday a miss for the week and stay in watching a film on tv or pratting about on my computer, playing on the xbox to relax for an evening and take it easy.
