My Notes edit

My self-summary

Well, I've got short brown hair that's pretty curly, I have blue eyes, wear glasses, and I'm short. I'm thin, but I'm no Kate Moss, and I like to wear clothes that fit me. These clothes tend to include Threadless shirts, though they also include webcomic shirts, and some button-down men's shirts.

I like to run around a lot and be relatively active, at least for a nerd. I've climbed a building before and I can prove it; I'd also love to do it again. Like the first sentence of this paragraph says, I'm a nerd. Probably not your typical nerd, though. I'm perfectly sociable and love to talk with lots of different people. REAL people.

What I'm doing with my life

I've recently started working at Adler Planetarium, as a Multimedia Intern. This job mostly consists of me maintaining and developing content for the website of a project the Adler is currently helping out with, funded by NASA. It's called the IBEX project, and it's all about trying to discern where the boundary of our solar system is, what it looks like, and what it does for us. Pretty cool stuff. You can find out more on the website, at http://www.ibex.swri.edu/

After that, I'm hoping to continue on in multimedia, especially Web Design and Web Development, though I'm not averse to other fields, especially Graphic Design and Animation.

I'm really good at

Finding obscure television shows, movies, and bands, finding things on the internet, sleeping, eating, climbing, running, hugging(apparently), scratching heads, and belting out random tunes when I make a connection to them. That's pretty often, in case you don't get that.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

People used to notice that I had long hair, a round face, and that I looked pretty androgynous. Oftentimes, this lead to me being mistaken for a girl, which generally lead to me being incredibly amused and, usually, playing along. I'm probably a horrible person for doing so, but it's just so much fun that I can't stop!

Now, I don't know. My eyes, maybe?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The Cthulhu Mythos are absolutely the most fantastic suspense/horror ever written, while The Discworld Chronicles and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series are just about the funniest books I've ever read. Anne McCaffrey's Pern series is some of the most beautifully descriptive work I've ever read, and Neverwhere and Stardust have some of the most amazing prose I've ever read. Sherlock Holmes is pretty much AMAZING.

I HAD a phenomenally well-done Call of Cthulhu movie that anybody who even pretends to read Lovecraft should see, but unfortunately it was lost when my external died the other week. I love the movies Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, What Dreams May Come, and Little Miss Sunshine. Comedies that I prefer are Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, as well as UHF, Hot Shots (both of them), and The Blues Brothers. Oh, and I still LOVE to watch old Disney movies.

My musical tastes are a bit of an odd pastiche. I like metal a lot, especially Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, Fairyland, Rhapsody, Dethklok, and NanowaR. Other than metal, I like chiptunes, especially Anamanaguchi and Bit Shifter, musicals (Stephen Sondheim, Jason Robert Brown, Howard Ashman, and Alan Menken own my soul) third-wave ska (Less Than Jake, Goldfinger, and Suburban Legends are all AWESOME) hard rock (Queen, The Rolling Stones, The Who) and parody music, most notably Weird Al :P

The six things I could never do without

Family
Friends
iPod
Sherlock
Messenger bag
Anti-douchebag sentiments

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Musicals, random romantic ideas, food, D&D campaign ideas, fantasy stories, and a lot of other stuff.

On a typical Friday night I am

Sitting around, watching movies or tv shows, playing games, hanging out with friends, or taking a nice, long walk.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

... Alright, don't tell anybody...

I sort of like High School Musical. But only certain songs from it! I went to go see a high school production of it with my family, and when the studio editing and fake instruments are replaced with real people and real instruments, some of the songs from High School Musical are actually quite catchy and tolerable! I don't know how the second one holds up, as there's a LOT MORE of the editing, but there's supposed to be a stage version of it pretty soon so I guess I'll have to check that out!

You should message me if

You love pen and paper roleplaying games, musicals, anime, or really anything I've listed in any section here!
