I am a 29 year old human being (edit... I just turned 30 and don't feel like re-writing everything. Also, being 30 feels kind of good and natural!). I love making music and art. I love reading. Seriously. I have a mind that is super-powerful (this is not an intellectual boast. I have found recently that mind over matter is real. Just dreaming and believing in something can usually make it happen.)! I love the serious and the funny in life. Both are just as important. Above all, I am a kind and loving person who gravitates towards the same. Funny how that works eh. There are billions of things I love! Also, I just realized that I apparently love parenthesis. Strange (or maybe not so strange). Meh.

Random list: Getting happy hour, basking in the sun, watching X-files, reading a good book in silence, Baby Kettens Keraoke!, hiking into the unknown, picking leaves off of trees and throwing them at friends, staying out way too late playing pinball, watching meteor showers, exploring, chatting up strangers and learning about people, watching Big Trouble in Little China too many times, wishing I was Jack Burton, wishing Jack Burton was a real person, making dumb faces, making bad 4-track songs on cassette for people's birthdays, walking through goodwill and finding ridiculous old products, cooking the shit out of some food, watching Blazer games.

I could continue for infinity. There are a billion other things that I will probably eventually love during the course of my life. Word.

I currently work as a cheese monger for a nice deli in town. I love finding and learning about new cheeses, cured meats and all of that jazz. On the side, I create music with a band here in Portland and make works of art. I am, in no way, done learning and evolving as a person, but I am pretty content with the things I am and have.

I also just quit smoking cigarettes. Here's where that mind over matter approach comes into play. I have been smoking a pack a day for a few years. Yeah, gross. I also kind of liked it. You know how it is..... Anyways, I recently just decided to quit and see how it would play out. From the moment I put my mind to it, I haven't had a problem. I am on day 3 and haven't even had a second thought. I had a coworker today tell me that I am calmer during my "quitting cigarettes" phase than I am normally and I look and at the exact opposite of anyone they have seen quit ( and this person was an ex-smoker). - 9-15-12 Wish me continual luck on this pursuit!
10-24-12 Update. Still not smoking! YEAAHH!

I am good at a lot of things! I am a goofball and can make a joke out of anything. I dare you to challenge that! I can also be super thoughtful, caring and subtle. There is a time and place for all. I am the cuddling champion and the rock skipping champion of 2009 and 2010. The 2011 tournament hasn't occurred yet, but I plan on a 3-peat. Put that in the books.

ps. In the opening "douchebag" salvo, try reading it with Keanu Reeves' voice from Point Break. Makes it waaaaay better.

pss. I am re-reading all of this for the first time since hastily writing it all a few months back. No one knows what to write in these boxes. We all know that. I just re-read this section and hate it. But, I am going to leave it because it is silly. It is fun wordplay, but just kind of dumb. But you know what? Fuck it. In spontaneity, I can be fun, and silly, and maybe a little bit dumb. Oh well! I would still rather be spontaneous with something like this than be cold and calculated and planned. Let's bring "Silly" back. It is needed.

Probably the fact that I am pretty damned skinny. Also, I have sad looking eyes.....apparently.

I could live without anything aside from my vital organs. And, I could be happy without anything. I have just recently learned this. Last week, I lost my smart phone and lost all of my money on the same day (long story). I freaked out for about 5 minutes and then decided I would just be happy and do something awesome everyday until I get those two things back. I am not exactly Gandhi, but I have had some of the happiest days of my life since then. Life is all about the ability to find beauty and comfort in any situation.

Art, and how different people can and will respond to the exact same stimulus. Dreams I have had and how I can use those in my waking life. Girls (yeah, not going to lie. I like you, girls.). Currently thinking about the upcoming fall mushroom season. I have plans to go get chantrelles, Oregon White Truffles, King Boletes, various Agaricus species, and Birch Boletes (which are found in the fall right in our very own Portland backyards and are super delicious. Maybe I can teach you how to find them!). Melody.

I feel like these things are the building blocks of fun and lively real-life conversations. I wouldn't want to cheat now and lose them in a real tangible and floating moment.
