My self-summary

My self summary...I hate these things. For the most part I'm a modest guy and I'm not much for talking myself up in things like this. So, I guess I'll try to just state what's true.

Well, the first thing that's true is that down in the secrets section I mention that I've been married twice. Yup, I've been married twice. I should let you know that this little fact means a hell of a lot more to you than it does to me. I'm still a person and I still get lonely. I'm not abusive, depressed, weighed down by baggage, or any of those other things people immediately assume just because a person has had past marriages. If anything, it means that I've had some experiences, that's all. But if you can't wrap your mind around that and you have to believe that I'm damaged goods then cheers to you. What else is true is that I currently live in a rather large-ish house that I share with a friend of mine. I enjoy watching TV and playing video games when I'm at home. I read when I have a book that interests me. I have a beagle. My beagle has three legs. I enjoy short, uninspired sentences. Actually, no I don't. I'm just not sure how to make any of that nonsense sound more interesting.

I have several tattoos and every intention of getting more. After that, I'll probably get even more. I'd rather be tattooed than be your boyfriend. I'm not mean or stand-offish, but I don't want anyone mistakenly thinking I'll be changing that for them.

I'm the biggest nerd you'll likely ever meet. I have an action figure collection. No, it's not like the one in the 40 Year Old Virgin. I open my action figures and I'm sexually active. Up until recently I also took part in live action roleplaying (larping), but it went to shit so I'm putting that on the shelf for the time being. I also used to have a weekly table top gaming group, but I also lost interest in that and haven't been in nearly a year. Despite all of that, I can have conversations about all sorts of things and I don't perseverate on fictional worlds or fantastic beings.

I'm reasonably politically minded, but I think anyone who isn't in this day and age is seriously dropping the ball. I'm not saying protest (fat lotta good that does), just educate yourself. Of course, I've educated myself and all it's done is to serve to make me frustrated. So maybe don't educate yourself and save yourself the angst. See what I did there? I used to be a soldier but I'm not a conservative. Nor am I a liberal. I'm what I like to call a free thinker. I make up my own mind without Sean Hannity or Al Franken to spoon feed me my thoughts and opinions. Sometimes I think the conservative party is right on an issue, other times I think the liberal party is. It's really just a matter of who is making the most sense at any given time. Most of the time I just wish we had a viable third party to mix things up a bit.

I have a firearms license and I carry a gun. I'm law abiding and even tempered. I hate violence and abhor killing, but I look around at the world and I see a necessity to be armed. Too many people are walking into the mall and opening fire on random people. A responsible and capable citizen with a legally purchased and licensed weapon can do a lot of good in one of those situations. They can also die like anyone else, it's just a choice and a chance that I'm willing to take. The point is, if you see me out in public, I most likely have a gun on my person. I apologize if this scares you.

I'm a big fan of animals and nature. I like being outdoors a good bit, though I find them no substitute for air conditioning. Regardless, camping is seriously fun and I've always slept better in the woods than anywhere else. The noises are particularly soothing, I find. I like to help the creatures of the world when I can. I catch the bugs in my house and put them outside. I help turtles cross the road. I get sad when I see road kill. I wish I could be more cold and uncaring, like most people out there, then I wouldn't be bothered by all that. Sadly, I'm a little too empathetic. Either way, I love nature.

I have a self-deprecating sense of humor. Sometimes this is confused by others for self-loathing. I balance it with bursts of a mid-grade superiority complex. Anyway, I think people need to be able to laugh at themselves as much or more than they laugh at others. If you can't take a hard, critical, look at yourself and have a laugh about what you see then you are probably hiding something from yourself. Also, manners mean the world to me and I go out of my way to be polite, I'd love to meet someone else who has the personal courage to be polite and observe basic manners.

Well, I still think that probably doesn't represent me as well as I'd like. Chances are I'll revise it again someday. If, after you've read all that, you would like to talk to me, that's awesome. That's why I'm here. Right now, my goal on this site is to meet someone to spend some time with. The company of a woman is a great thing, it's very calming and pleasant. Ideally I'm looking for a lady to see when we both have the time and inclination. Something like a steady boyfriend/girlfriend type situation. In my mind it's a nice, friendly, casual relationship. Something more substantial than the typical friends with benefits nonsense, but not quite engaged to be married either. I think what I'm trying to say is that I'm looking for a normal relationship. If that made you laugh, we just might be a good match.

What I'm doing with my life

I work for the school system as a Para-Educator (a fancy word for "teachers aid") at a psycho-education transitional learning center. It's like special education, only harder. I can't begin to explain how much I enjoy my job, or how little I'm paid for it. But the satisfaction of loving my job and feeling honored to do it, far outweighs my desire to be rich.

I'm planning on going to school within the year, which may put a damper on my weekday free time. I can't know for sure until I'm in it.

I'm really good at

Giving advice. I can see most situations pretty objectively and tend to give excellent advice. Sadly, most people don't realize I have given them great advice until after they didn't take it. Anyone who enjoys being right all the time has obviously never had this particular talent.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

As for food, I love Sushi, Italian, Indian, and Mexican. I could eat one of the four of those daily for the rest of my life and count myself lucky. I'm not saying I don't love pizza, burgers, subs, and barbeque as well, because I do. I just really love the other stuff. A lot.
