I am not Batman, but I'm tall, and Batman is tall..

My Self-Summary

I am always at a loss on things like this. Sum myself up in no less than 100 words ... here goes. I come from Philadelphia, but live here in Portland now, working as a project manager for a local internet company. I can talk endlessly about a pretty wide variety of topics, from what killed the dinosaurs to what happened when the bomb went off on the last episode of Lost. Or maybe that's one topic ... did I just blow your mind? No? Oh well. I like birds, cooking, gardening, movies, good TV, and the written word. I love to travel and want to be with someone who likes to go places too. Ha - 100 words achieved. That will be all then.

What I’m doing with my life

I already said that in the last part ... damn. In addition to work, I spend a somewhat scary amount of time watching soccer, both domestic and international, and I write a blog about the game.

I’m really good at

writing, at least when I'm in the right mindset to sit down and do it. I'm good at my job, I think. I'm analytical, so if there are numbers involved, I'm probably at least decent at it. FIFA 2008 for the Wii.

The first things people usually notice about me

I don't know. I don't make all that much of an effort to be noticed, so if you can tell me what you notice first about me, that would be nice to know. That way, when I don't feel like being noticed, I can actively hide that thing.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - Neil Gaiman, Shakespeare, Nick Hornby, etc.

Movies - too many to list, but some of the highlights: It's a Wonderful Life, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Cube, Night of the Living Dead, North by Northwest, Primer.

TV - Lost, Firefly, Wonderfalls, Carnivale, How I Met Your Mother, and my inexplicable guilty pleasure is Hell's Kitchen.

Music - Oh dear. Small sample of my playlist right now would include Radiohead, MC Chris, The Streets, Iron and Wine, Suzanne Vega, Belle and Sebastian, the Beta Band and Kristen Allen-Zito.

Food - Thai, Indian, Cajun, Pub food, anything cooked for me.

The six things I could never do without

Something clever about air and water should go here, but I have a feeling that's a bit played out. So ... pencil, paper, human contact (at least once a week), lack of human contact (at least twice a week), the ocean, rain.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

whether I could go back in time and kill the makers of Terminator 3 before they made what was already a convoluted storyline into a complete cluster. But then I'd probably just end up impregnating the mother of the director of some future Terminator movie ... that's how they get you.

On a typical Friday night I am

What's typical? Sometimes I'm out at a pub, sometimes I'm asleep, and sometimes I'm right here on ye olde internete, doing roughly this.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

There have been times in my life where I haven't been very nice. I think I'm over them, and try very hard to be good and polite and decent now, but I didn't always, and I'm not proud of that.

You should message me if

you feel like it. Worst case, you'll get nothing back. Second worse is a polite "No Thanks". There are better possibilities, though, and if you don't step up to the plate, you can't hit the ball. There are other sports metaphors that apply here too, but I can't think of them.
