What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Seven months ago, this is what I wrote:

-wrapping up my undergrad degree in biomedical engineering
-helping run my campus radio station
-deciding, for future career options, between the private spaceflight biz and music
-probably procrastinating on schoolwork.

It's changed since then:

- working in IT security at a Fortune 500 in the healthcare sector
- handling tech/social media for an LA beatmaker collective, Rootnote
- writing about music at my friend's blog, Gruff Trade (
- living life a day at a time
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- recommending people music
- passing for knowledgeable using Wikipedia knowledge and...intuition
- finding things on the Internet
- sprezzatura
- procrastination

I have a love/hate relationship with namedropping, so I'll stick to themes and characteristics. Ask me for specifics!

Books: Utopias and dystopias. Mutterings from the Beat Generation. Hallucinatory portrayals of the implications of technology on the environment and society-at-large. The fluidity of memory. Transgression.

Movies: Mindfuck. Film noir. Spaghetti and acid westerns. Synergistic soundtracks. Black comedy. Postmodern romance. Beautiful color.

Shows: Metahumor. Tropes, deconstructed. Crossover with my movie preferences.

Music: If I had to narrow it down to a couple of categories, it'd be electronic (90s Warp stuff, '06-'07 UK dubstep, jungle/DnB/breakcore, LA/Japanese bass/beats music, and the weird UK garage/house/techno hybrids coming out of London and Berlin in the last two years), post-rock, well-produced hip-hop, south Indian classical (Carnatic music), and film soundtracks/contemporary classical.

lol, I don't think I narrowed it down much at all...but annnnyways, for the whole picture:

Food: I don't have a strict favorite. My mother made sure to train that out of me as a kid. That being said, CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES, HUMMUS, SRIRACHA, FIGS, CORNBREAD hnnnnnnnnngggg
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Spicy food.
My mental and sensory faculties.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit

My rather fluid comfort zone leads me into pretty awesome situations outside the norm, but also into pretty weird, and possibly negative ones, too. "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times..."

I've been a huge flake in the past. Moving from the East Coast to LA forced that out of my system for the most part.

That doesn't mean that I'm perfect now, or that I'm automatically tolerant of flaking in other people, but just that...I'm emotionally equipped to deal with it.
