My self-summary
(I'm not an A-Lister so "Stars" & "Likes" do nothing for me. Be a champ and say hello if you "like" me.)

I spend most of my time fending off women who are only interested in my gorgeous looks and athletic body. Ladies, please stop objectifying me - I have a wonderful personality. For example, I'm very humble.

When I'm not busy protecting my manly chastity, I work on my books (one is a spy novel with a female protagonist, the other is based on my Ph.D. dissertation...which is mostly non-fiction), write stuff for media outlets, and try not to get too gloomy about the state of the world.

I also like to make my friends laugh. My accents and impersonations come in handy.
What I’m doing with my life
Career-wise, moving back and forth between academia and pissing off politicians and their uninformed constituents.

Existence-wise, I'm simply a young star-dust, just like everybody else.

When my plans go awry, I take it out on a heavy bag.
I’m really good at
- listening to people
- making them laugh
- cooking
- embarking on new adventures, which frequently involves traveling
The first things people usually notice about me
are all my accents, which I use to keep them guessing about where I'm from.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
[Insert tons of work-related non-fiction]

Fiction:
* Joseph Heller, Catch-22 (read it when I was in the Army - made perfect sense)
* Khaled Hosseini, Kite Runner
* James Lyon, Kiss of the Butterfly
* Vivien Shotwell, Vienna Nocturne
(James and Vivien are my friends - I cannot recommend their books enough!)

Music:
U2, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, AC/DC, Annie Lennox, Coldplay, Samantha James, movie soundtracks

TV:
West Wing, Band of Brothers, The Wire, House of Cards (I'm partial to the BBC version), Coupling UK, Archer!

Movies:
The Bond and Bourne series, The Godfather trilogy, Notting Hill, Love Actually, The Notebook, Wedding Crashers, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Valkyrie, The Hunt for Red October, Tropic Thunder, Invictus, Gladiator, Layer Cake

A category of its own:
Star Trek - something about the idea that, some day, humankind will become so enlightened that it will enter into a political union with extra-terrestrial species and attempt to discover the mysteries of the universe...

Cuisine:
Balkan, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Indian, Mexican
The six things I could never do without
- family & friends
- coffee-tea-alcohol
- travelling to places old and new
- books
- movies
- punching bag (no gloves necessary)
- awesomeness
- handsomeness
- modesty
- my math skills
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the state of the world; protecting my manly chastity; how to turn the Ph.D. dissertation into a best-seller; how to turn the novel into a best-seller; how to *right* other best-sellers after those...and do other things good, too...
On a typical Friday night I am
either out with friends or at home watching a movie/Netflix.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
We're all just passing through here
at the speed of light (Google it!)

On a lighter note, the only school I ever got expelled from was kindergarten because I...threatened to do something to the principal's mother which I did not know how to do at the ripe age of 5.
You should message me if
You're up for some funny and witty banter.
