My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi there :) My name is RJ and I am a new transplant to the Troy/Albany area. I've been going to graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh for the last 4 years but my adviser recently transferred to RPI and I went along with him. I really don't know much about Troy, Albany or NY in general and I am basically just looking for friends to meet and explore this new area with. If you know the area, even better!

Quick-run down:
Born and raised in Pittsburgh
Got my undergrad degrees at Pitt
I have degrees in biology, chemistry, history
Worked at the Pittsburgh Zoo as well as the San Diego Zoo when I lived in San Diego for about 2 years
Now I'm working on my PhD in ecology and evolution.

Things about me:
-I used to be an actual professional video game player when I was in high school
-I love the winter
-I am an avid snowboarder, soccer player, swimmer, and triathlete
-I am far more sociable than most people.
-I don't get mad and don't do well with people that are perpetually angry
-I enjoy going to the gym
-I'm a nerd and I love Star Wars more than most people
-I have several tattoos
-I love kids and animals
-I am a pretty good artist but I rarely show my work :)
-I love a good IPA
-I can cook decently well (at least I think so).
-I am fast. To give you a reference point I am somewhere between a snake and a mongoose…and a panther (bonus points if you know where this is from)
-I've never had a salad or coffee
-I won a total of 6 (yes 6. jealous?) baseball trophies as a kid.
-I have no pets because I feel bad about leaving animals alone
-I'm addicted to going to museums and learning as much as I can with the time I'm given on this planet
-I know way more about Star Wars than anyone else I know. If you can show me up in Star Wars trivia we might as well just get married now :)

The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family/friends
Sushi
Comedy/laughing
Nature/animals
Differential air pressure between my lungs and the air around me
Brain activity

Yeah I ran out of things to put down pretty quickly. As it turns out, I can live without most things
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The meaning of life, whether or not ghosts exist, what I'm doing with my life, whether or not any of us truly have free will, why the Steelers feel the need to assert themselves as a run-oriented team when clearly their best assets are their passing options, why people think scientists are boring or closed-minded, how many Earth-like planets are out there, whether it is better to be all theory and no action or all action and no theory, etc
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'll give you a few options. All are equally likely.

At home relaxing from a long week and watching a movie
At a bar enjoying some good craft beers with friends
Mayyyybe doing karaoke if I am with other fellow people who don't mind looking stupid
At a concert/show somewhere
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
In gym class when I was a kid we played crab soccer and I intentionally kicked the classroom bully in the head. I scuttled away and he never found me.

In third grade, I got into trouble because I brought a condom to school. I thought it was a moist towelette.

I am not shy or secretive and will answer just about anything you would care to know.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
you want to ?

In all honesty, if you think we'd get along just send me a message. I've been told I am a pretty nice guy from at least a handful of reputable people :) As I said, I am in a completely foreign land and I would love to just meet some new friends who would like to try new places to eat, new bars, go hiking, sightseeing, etc.

PS if we ever do hang out and things are not going well I'll just get up and yell "There's a camera over here, and one over here. I'm an actor, they are all actors and you are on MTV's disaster date." Then I will run away and you'll never have to see me again.

..........I don't think it will come to that but hey, you should always have a plan B.
