My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
See below.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Paddling (working on standup paddling in all 50 states, but also dragon boating).
Currently on a yoga binge.
Trying to get someone to help me start my '67 F-250.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Rolling up my sleeves,
laughing aloud at a weird point in the movie,
finding the good stuff at the flea market.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
The red hair
and the eye roll

Books: Ford Madox Ford's The Good Soldier; Daniel Evan Weiss' Swine's Wedding; Candide; Dalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun; Hampton Sides' Hellhound on his Trail; Jennifer Dubois' Cartwheel.

Movies: Dude, Where's My Car (I know, but it is hilarious); Up in the Air; Meek's Cutoff; Beasts of the Southern Wild; almost any documentary

TV: The Newsroom; Sports Night (not Sports Center); Arrested Development; Nashville

Music: The Avett Brothers; Old Crow Medicine Show; Wanda Jackson; Jude; Desi Arnaz; Hank Williams; Hayes Carll; Mike Farris; the Go-Gos. I have many (many) different versions of the Tennessee Waltz in iTunes.
I listen to too much NPR.

Food: I love food. I love to eat what other people cook for me. Also: Anything chocolate; tacos; falafel; a good vegetarian sandwich; a better steak
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. My paddleboard
2. My dog
3. Punctuation
4. Waffle House hashbrowns
5. A good book
6. A great idea
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Sex in your 40s. Why Belle Meade Bourbon is such a terrible bourbon. Why Nashvillians hate public transportation. Why I can't write without a deadline.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm self-employed and travel a lot, so there's not really anything typical. (I live in East Nashville, but spend time in Gulf Shores, Chicago and on the road.) I get to do a ton of cool stuff in the name of work, and I am looking for an adventuresome man to join me. When not on one of those assignments, I may be eating out, drinking in, seeing live music...I'm open to any better ideas you have.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My "workout" playlist is way more embarrassing than my "love songs" playlist.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
If you can make me laugh so hard I snort.
If you are interested and interesting.
If you take life, but not yourself, seriously.
If you aren't a huge pain in the ass.
If you like a good debate (but not if you think you're going to convince me that evolution isn't real).
If you have TSA Pre Check.
If you are not married.
If you live somewhere near somewhere I am or will be.
If you let your freak flag fly ("weird" is good, but not mentally ill and not medicated).

Bonus points for kayaks/canoes/dragon boats/paddleboards, 5 o'clock shadows (beards), and loud, long-eared dogs as companions.

I'm looking for something in between a hookup and marriage, whatever that is.
