My self-summary
I like to have fun, to try something new, be challenged, and meet interesting people. Life doesn't have to be complicated, or expensive, in order to be amazing.

Given the opportunity: I've driven to Montreal for a party of expats, ridden my bike in a snowstorm, and drank Labatt Blue and Canadian Club shots while singing along to Johnny Cash.

I'm horrible at playing board games and spelling. I like to wear converse sneakers and blue jeans. I think I own over a dozen black t-shirts. My sense of humor is very dry.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a professional baker at the moment who is going back to school for graphic design and web development. I like to read books, watch movies and experiment with home fermentation. I can cook too!

I'm an Adirondack native who tries to spend as much time in the mountains as possible, but live in Troy for access to underground music and tasty food.

I volunteer a lot at a local independent media center and officiate roller derby on the weekends. I'm still improving as a skating official, hopefully I'll get the turn around toe-stops down soon.

At this point in life I've finished one Master's Degree in English with a focus in Post-Colonial theory. Mostly, it means I'm great at talking about obscure political theory as practically applied through literature.
I’m really good at
I've got a small collection of road bikes I've worked on or come across. I tune my owns skis, and sometimes feel as if I've missed my calling as a ski bum.

I used to spend to much time hanging out in dive bars and was a pretty decent dart player for a while. Now, I tend more towards community involvement (roller derby, bikes, indy media) and love it. Although, I still party when I can.
The first things people usually notice about me
Most times we'll be hanging out and talking and then I start telling a story along the lines of "when we tied a tall bike on the roof of my car and drove to Minneapolis" or something like that.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I've been reading Kurt Vonnegut, bell hooks, Neil Gaiman, and Howard Zinn.

My favorite movies are Kill Bill, 80's fantasies like Labyrinth, documentaries, and such. Also love Jon Pierre Jeneut's work.

As far as music goes, I like Radiohead, T Rex, The Blues, Bluegrass, gypsy music, Bikini Kill, underground punk and such.

TV, I'm honestly not that into it. I watch it when I'm sick. Then, its Dr Who, BBC & similar items.
The six things I could never do without
Coffee - great coffee is like the sun coming out after the rain.

Snow - in the winter my car looks like the dumpster at dick's sporting goods. I've got skis, sleds, skates.

my bicycle(s) I can go anywhere for free.

adventures - why not?

peanut butter - great in almost any form and consumed daily.

my mac book - I'm getting better at graphic design and video editing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Bicycles, obviously. I'm not a roadie or a spandex, but one of those commuter types that rebuilds 80's road bikes. I can patch a flat, set your limit screws, rebuild a bottom bracket, and wrap handle bars like you wouldn't believe. I also love wheel truing.

This year I want to try rock climbing and take my canoe down the scenic byway in the Adirondacks.

Finishing school is another priority. I work a lot on improving my skill as a web developer and learning graphic design.

I have a pretty left ideology, if your not into that we aren't probably going to get along.

I also fantasize about building my own tiny house and live off the grid somewhere. Something along the lines of a workshop, tiny cabin, and a big garden. Somewhere with an outdoor fireplace. I've helped my friends remodel their homes over the years and I grew up splitting wood. I'm not afraid of a little hard work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Heading to the Adirondacks, hanging out about in Troy, doing homework and making dinner, working. I also do roller derby on the weekends during the season, hang out at the local independent media center, or our local bike collective.

spending a rainy weekend in a bar shooting darts is fun too. Also going to underground shows.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I went vegan after I had Lyme Disease for health reasons. I'm not picky about food I can eat. I also love to cook. This year I made turnip pickles and want to experiment with black rice and beet risotto. I like going out for Vietnamese and Thai food. Indian is great too.

You want to grab a drink and swap stories. I also love to go skiing! Of course, I'm working at a ski mountain this year. Mostly, I get to watch.

One long held dream of mine is to take my canoe down the scenic byway in the Adirondacks. Of course, that is a longer adventure and best kept till summer.
