I am lazily intelligent, obsessively creative, and enjoyably sarcastic

My Notes edit

My self-summary

First, let's just get the geek factor out of the way. It's unavoidable. I am big on the internet and my Apple computers, and I do all my work (freelance illustration) on the Mac eventually, so I spend quite a bit of time with a monitor in front of me. But not all my time. And I read. A lot. Mostly non-fiction. I like ideas, philosophy, science and anything subversive.

Interests: believe it or not - despite my geek admission above, I like to get outside. Love warm weather. Camping (usually the "drinking beer with obligatory hike" kind of camping), skydiving, disc golf, throwing around a Frisbee for hours on end, being near water. If I still had a bicycle I would ride it, but I sold my motorcycle because I knew I was going to end up in a lot of pain from that thing one day. The top down on my Jeep is good enough for me.

I'm a pretty sarcastic person, but still realistically optimistic in general (although it might not seem like it at times) – at least on the person-to-person level. I am definitely a smart-ass, but not a jerk.

I love staying up late and getting plenty of sleep. I am a huge movie freak, with the home entertainment system to prove it. I have zero interest in sports, but get along fine with friends that do.

What kind of woman am I looking for? She must be intelligent, and like to think. She's not a sports freak. She doesn't listen to country music. She's self-motivated. She's feminine. She's independent. She's open-minded. She like to laugh, but isn't goofy or obnoxious. She cares about how she looks, but doesn't obsess over it. Preferably, she's a brunette. She might desire to be in a relationship, but doesn't need to be in one. And the ability to throw a Frisbee is a huge plus.

What I'm doing with my life

My life is an ongoing and continuously re-imagined adventure, but currently I am a freelance illustrator doing some graphic design contract work as well. I've always been the artsy-fartsy/creative type, but have found that I also enjoy the business side of working for myself. It's challenging, but very rewarding. I like to learn and push myself, so it's actually kind of fun for me.

Lately I have just been working my ass off to expand my business, but not so much that I don't have any free time. I'm doing this to increase my levels of joy, not reduce them. Nothing beats doing what you love and being paid well for it. And being able to take the day off when you feel like it!

And I just discovered OK Cupid has licensed some of my art (a cartoon illustration of a 25¢ coin ) for a Personality Icon on the site - excellent!

I'm really good at

Escalating conversations above the inane, but keeping them fun; extreme honesty usually involved. Grilling my secret recipe hamburgers; it's one of the few things I can cook well.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

Once you get me talking, it's pretty much impossible to get me to stop. Endless - yet appropriate - tangents.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

The six things I could never do without

- Internet connection/a Mac
- pencil & paper
- a frisbee
- a good comfortable pair of shoes
- warm weather
- good friends

On a typical Friday night I am

Usually heading out with friends for a few - or a lot of - beers. Eventual discussions about the nature of existence, Star Wars references, and new movies to add to the Netflix queue.

You should message me if

you can handle diatribes about the interconnectedness of quantum physics, Bugs Bunny cartoons and alternate theories of ancient Egypt. Hell, if you know what the word diatribe means we might make a good match.

Those without a good heart, a sharp sense of humor and a dash of cynicism need not apply. And not so fast - you're not getting by on just your looks; I need a personality in there too.
