My self-summary
Here is just a quick update. If you're a devout conspiracy theorist, do us both a favor. If you don't contact me, I won't blast giant holes in your worldview. Deal? Awesome.

Creative, mature, sometimes too busy to have a life, film-geek (sometimes a film snob) with a passion for the obscure and the bizarre.

I find humor in odd things. Let's discuss the "You might like" feature on this site. You know, the little set of three photos to the left, in the blue bar? It is doubtful that I will like someone with a less than 30% match. It just is. It's extremely doubtful that I will like someone with a 0% match, 7% friend match, and 99% enemy match. Unless of course I have been seeking my arch-enemy all of these years. So, exactly how does this feature decide I might like someone? Craziness ensues...
What I’m doing with my life
I write, edit, create. Without creativity, I am nothing. Building my business throughout the metroplex.
I’m really good at
Did I mention that I write? I am considered to be, by several people I know who contact me to get them over their third-act slump, or their starting concept, the fastest, tightest plotter. I do not know how I came to be this way, but I consider it to be a strength. I make fantastic French Toast. Too bad I can't make it pretty. I am also a font of useless, obscure film trivia knowledge. That may not be a good thing.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea. I know my personality is outstanding, and I tend to hide behind a self-deprecating sense of humor so as not to appear arrogant.
Having asked a couple of friends, they both replied...My glasses. Huh...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
MORE THAN HUMAN, anything by Joe Lansdale, F. Paul Wilson, and Andrew Vachss. I could list authors and books, could go 'round and 'round all day on this. I love 1930's pulp novels, both Burroughs', and many other works of literary merit. I also read trash fiction. I am not a fan of Nicholas Sparks, but have a funny story about that. I read a little bit of everything.

There is not enough room for the films I love, though I do gravitate to horror and independent. Let's discuss this for a moment. Most people equate "horror" with gore. Horror is a visceral reaction, based on suspense and fear. Extreme bloodshed isn't necessary. I'm not a big fan of the "torture porn" style (Saw, Hostel, Cabin Fever, etc.), but really love a good ghost story or monster movie. I also love anything that allows my brain to work. A short list of suggested viewing? Pi, Primer, The Station Agent, Wendigo, to name a few that are not, necessarily, horror, per se. I am a huge fan of Akira Kurosawa, without a doubt the most influential director. If you've never seen his work, I can guarantee you've seen something based on or directly influenced by it. I love Asian horror, by the way. And Euro-trash. And classic cinema. I love movies. For the record, I am a huge fan of Sam Peckinpah's highly controversial works. I know it's not for everyone, I know that most people are disturbed by it (that's kind of the point of it, too), and I'm not going to make you watch it with me. But I could really get into an open discussion of either The Wild Bunch or Straw Dogs. Also, don't come at me with the remake. I'm talking about the real one.

Don't watch a lot of tv, there are too many books and movies to ingest. That said, I really like The Big Bang Theory.

Music? Not a fan of hip-hop or rap, beyond that, pretty much good to go. For whatever reason, I tend to enjoy a womans voice on vocals. As composers go, I think Ennio Morricone and Akira Ifukube were geniuses. I am a Rush fan, but I try not to force them on anyone. Prog Rock is a favorite. Folk. Singer-songwriter. Dubstep makes me think of Michel Gondry videos.

I am, oddly, allergic to cilantro.
The six things I could never do without
Air
Water
Food
Shelter
Hope
Laughter
Wonder
Yes, I realize that's seven, but I hate to remain within my limitations.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe, and everything. How it seems that some people cannot be logical. What Harlan Ellison was really trying to do when he wrote DEATHBIRD STORIES. The implications of Lovecraft's dream imagery. Why twinkies don't taste like I remember them tasting.
On a typical Friday night I am
There are typical Friday nights? No, really, it doesn't seem to matter much to me. I have a business shooting freelance video. My Friday nights can be a wedding, a music video, a short film, or sitting at home wondering about twinkies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I may be a sap, but I'm not a pushover. At the first sign of crazy, I am pretty much done.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 35–50
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
You just want a really good conversation. Why else would you message someone? You enjoy reading, and want to talk about it. You love movies, and want to talk about it. (I will warn you, though. Come at me with Titanic, The Notebook, or anything directed by Michael Bay, and we're probably not going to have much fun in that conversation. Is The Notebook beautifully shot? Yes. Is it a good movie? Oh, dear god, it isn't.)
