My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
It's been a few years here in Portland, and while I don't consider myself to be a fresh transplant anymore I'm not too cool for school either. I try to stay positive and celebrate enthusiasm. I like to cook for people, so I work a lot of nights and weekends, but I'm fun and worth the scheduling hassle. I also like to cook for the person in my life.

I've been single for long enough to have gotten it out of my system. Looking for a partner who's looking for something real. If you're still in the "I wanna experiment" phase, great, no judgements as long as you don't drag me into it. I'm not your stepping stone, rebound, emotional validation, or flavor of the week.

I'm a bit old fashioned (thank the Midwestern upbringing) in that I prefer to date one person at a time. I tend to be affectionate and I tend to let you know if I like you. It would be nice to have a partner to do cute things for.

Update: I'm a cyclist. You should know that up front. I have a car I almost never drive (its for out of town, let's go to the coast!). I like getting where I'm going under my own power and the ability to extract myself when it's time to go. Parking is usually easier and it just feels fun to grip it and rip it in downtown traffic. So if you think it's fun and practical to get around on two wheels we might have a good time together.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For the moment, I'm taking it day by day. Working, getting together with friends, running errands, going to my favorite spots, trying out new places, going where the wind blows and life takes me. I guess I'm on this because I'd like to find a partner - doing what you want to do when you want to do it is fun but it rings hollow.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Cooking, baking, riding my bike, reading, laughing
The first things people usually notice about me

It's one of three things:
-awesome laugh
-the glasses
-my hair (I've been wearing it "up" more)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Some of my favorite writers: Thomas Pynchon, Jack Kerouac, David Sedaris, Sarah Vowell, Mary Roach, J.D. Salinger, Tom Wolfe, Hunter S. Thompson, Susanna Clarke (I'm sure there are some glaring omissions but you get the idea)

Music: radiohead, The Black Keys, Belle & Sebastian, of Montreal, Sigur Ros, explosions in the sky, (early) Modest Mouse, Sufjan Stevens, Led Zeppelin, Iron & Wine, etc. I've been listening to a lot of oldies and blues lately so a lot of Rolling Stones in the mix.

Podcasts: Stuff You Missed in History Class, Stuff You Should Know, The History of Rome, Revolutions, Stuff They Don't Want You To Know, Stuff to Blow Your Mind, 99% Invisible, and Addicted to Heriones with Barbara Holm (local comedienne)

TV: 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Bob's Burgers, Archer, It's Always Sunny..., The Office, Arrested Development, Trailer Park Boys, Louie, South Park. I'm mostly listing funny stuff but I also really liked The Sopranos and what I've seen of Six Feet Under.

Movies: Wes Anderson, Pulp Fiction, The Departed, Brick, the Big Lebowski, I also like a lot of stand up comedy specials (they can approach a movie in length)

Food: I will eat pretty much anything. I'd rather have the real deal over the vegan alternative. At any given time I could go for tacos, sushi or pizza. Or a gyro. Or a cheeseburger. I like to eat, and there are so many places to try here! For a skinny guy I love to eat!
The six things I could never do without

A challenge
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Food, glorious food! The ordering, storing, preparation, cooking, plating, and serving thereof. And how I can better be a cog in the delivery system. Cooking is as much a mental as a physical gig.

Free will vs. determinism. And if either is true how to be in the right place at the right time to let what needs to occur be. What needs to occur? Are my petty desires in alignment with the universe?

"How and why and when and where to go.
How and why and when and where to follow."
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Dinner service. Killing it/fighting the pink robots. Closing up shop. Getting out late. Tired/fulfilled. :D
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I can't go back to margarine...

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You try to be who you say you are. Or that you try at all: to learn, to grow, to be a better person.

You also work atypical hours or are okay with a partner who does.
