My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Hi, I'm Gareth.

I'm an optimist - I always try to find positive reasons for things over negative reasons. I like it when people laugh - if it's because of something I was trying to be funny about then all the better. I'm a sucker for gadgets. I have time for anyoner's opinion about anything, as long as there's some thought behind it. I don't have a personal best for consecutive sentences starting with "I" but I might start recording it now. I can handle your sarcasm and I give as good as I get.

I love stand-up comedy, and the best 2 weeks of my year are usually at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which I'm visiting for the 4th time this year. I also love spaghetti Bolognese, but I wouldn't spend 2 weeks concentrating on *that*. I run sometimes, so far I've done three 10k events despite saying each was the last time I was going to do it.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
At the moment I'm building prototype websites for the BBC, which feeds my geek appetite during the day.

I'm also trying to spend time getting to know the ins and outs of London at the moment. There're so many small, unique attractions (like Secret Cinema) that I'm hoping it'll take a while to find them all. Of course there are other places than London to visit, and if I get the time I'll explore them too (with a sidekick, if possible...)

I like to think I'll take any opportunity to get better at something, but sometimes my motivation isn't too hot. I run a bit, I go climbing semi-regularly and sometimes I try and juggle. I took a 2 hour trapeze class to see if it would be fun – it really was, but I don't think my calf muscles were ready for it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
writing about himself in the third person. No, wait... dammit!

I'm a puzzle solver, not like sudoku or wordsearches but something a bit more involved. I like to think I'm good at learning new things quickly. If you like puns then you'll be happy to know that I'm really good at coming up with them on the spur of the moment. If you don't, then you'll be happy to know that I'm really good at keeping them to myself.

I'm also really good at lie-ins and lying on the sofa. But who isn't?

There are a lot more things that I'm only a bit good at, but that's not what the question asked, so you'll have to find those out some other time ;)

This could be a long answer, so let's just summarise a bit. If you like any of these then there's probably a lot more along those lines, just ask and see!

Books: Mostly fantasy/comedy/sci-fi, authors like Robert Rankin, Tom Holt, books like Dune, the Discworld series; also crime dramas like the classic Agatha Christie or more modern like the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. The Asterix the Gaul comics are pretty good too.

Movies: So many great movies, from ones that make you think, like Dogma, Memento, The Prestige (actually any Christopher Nolan film); all the way through to fun Disney movies like WALL•E, The Incredibles, Toy Story 2. And a special "guilty pleasure" mention to Love Actually :-/

Shows: If they mean theatre shows then I haven't seen enough yet, but Avenue Q was amazing. For TV shows I like comedies (Red Dwarf, Black Books); British dramas (Spooks, Hustle); US drama series (Heroes, House); quizcoms (QI, Whose Line)

Music: I'll listen to literally nearly anything, but I'm keen on upbeat dancey music and mellow chillout music, so Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Fatboy Slim; Röyksopp, Air, Lemon Jelly, Massive Attack. Cheesy 80s music is good to listen to in most situations.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
ways to take over the world. Are you pondering what I'm pondering?

I'm never quite sure where semicolons should go but I'm pretty; sure it wasn't there.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
doing the same thing I do every night - try to take over the world!

Actually, chances are I'm not reminiscing about Pinky and The Brain, but those answers went so well together, I couldn't resist.

Friday nights are generally unwind-y nights, sometimes that's out with friends, sometimes it's in with the TV. I'm not crazy about how "normal" this answer is, but I think it must be pretty much the same for everyone.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I sometimes get unhealthy cravings for Percy Pig sweets.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
- you've worked out that I'm a bit of a geek, and you think that's a good thing.

- you ever think about totally irrelevant things, like how a Rubik's cube actually works, or why "abbreviation" is such a long word.

- you spotted the hidden message in this profile (because I didn't put one in, so you must have found a way into my subconscious).

Play the "…in my pants" game: Add "in my pants" to the title of your favourite song, and if it's funny enough let me know.
For example "I still haven't found what I'm looking for... in my pants"
