My self-summary
I try not to hold too tightly to my story of who I am, but we gotta start somewhere. So... The focus of my life is spiritual and psychological growth. I believe our deepest purpose is to understand and become who we truly are. I've been a Zen practitioner for many years and am now involved in the Diamond Approach, which I love.

With all that, humor is the great lubricant of life. Let's find what there is to laugh about.

I admire and aspire to emotional transparency. Can we all express and take responsibility for our feelings and needs? I find Nonviolent Communication very helpful in this area. As much as possible, can we talk about what is really going on? (You know- not like the families most of us grew up in.)

I am smart in a did-well-in-school kind of way. I recognize that there are infinite forms of intelligence and doing well on the SATs is not necessarily one of the most useful in the longer term. I am funny and delight in finding the humor in life. I love words and like to write.

I am healthy and generally eat well. I love a day when I can leave my car by the curb and ride my bike where I need to go. I don't drink alcohol or do drugs anymore- life is getting shorter and I'd rather have a clear mind.

I am a psychotherapist (MFT) who has just begun a new career as a government bureaucrat. I think everyone should be a government bureaucrat at least once in a lifetime, don't you?

Sometimes, I feel lonely and would love to have a companion to explore ourselves and our world, to play and laugh with, to give comfort and support. Mostly, I'm happy and would enjoy being happy with someone.
What I’m doing with my life
Trying not to get in its way.
I’m really good at
Listening, puns, paint-by-number Van Gogh, seeing the humor, reading aloud (especially if there's someone to listen), waking up before the alarm, haiku, introspection, learning new words, kissing, taking at least one good photograph a year, appearing calm (not actually as useful as I once thought), saying "please" and "thank you," cooking steel cut oats, parenthetical remarks (when appropriate), remembering to water the plants, walking and talking (at the same time!), laughing in the face of death (okay, I made that one up)
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm a biped.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I don't know about this question. I mean, what if you are the otherwise perfect woman for me but I mention some band or HBO show that you hate, so you write me off? Seems too risky.
(I suppose that's my glib way of avoiding having to make lists of these things. Such preferences are fun to talk about, but don't really seem essential)
The six things I could never do without
I just got these solar powered string lights for my balcony. I suppose I could live without them, but I don't want to.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Patriarchy- it's the root of so many problems.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I can't seem to smile convincingly for selfies.
You should message me if
This one is up to you. Hey, I can't do all the work. (Though, I will say that I'd love to connect with a tender heart and a lively mind- someone who sees her life as a spiritual journey, with relationship as part of that journey)
