I am smiling, studying, and alive.

My Self-Summary

I am an Albertan, born-and-raised. I have enjoyed the opportunity to live in a few other provinces and countries. My home is supposed to be Calgary, but the new found size and attitude didn't agree with me so I tried a smaller town in Saskatchewan. It was beautiful, wide, open and fresh, but just not enough culture - hmm, the things we take for granted. SO, here I am in Edmonton and so far it is not so bad. The clerks in Gravity Pope didn't treat me like used gum (Calgary take note) and a few people have even randomly said, "Hi" on the street. I like this. It seems civil.

What I’m doing with my life

I have recently decided to go back to school. I am taking my masters.
So here I am. Studying away - ha! I am supposed to be finishing an assignment right now...but this is a very important part of life too, and it helps with balance - right? My mother would be so proud.
I have a part-time job where I am making nominal money and struggling a little bit with feeling like a non-producer. So strange not to earn a decent income.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

You know, when I was younger, I used to read. And quite a bit, I think. When I look at the books I have, I sometimes am shocked they belong to me. Not that I am a granny or anything, but did I really read all that beat generation and phil, or Vonnegut or Homer? Amazing.
I still have a hard time reading pure fluff, I like to learn. Earlier this year the biggest surprise was reading The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It was recommended to me and I did not think it would be a book I would like, like Alice Monroe or something....but I really liked it.
AND, I really love music. All kinds, but not really death metal or hardcore any more. I listen to CBC a lot and do not read newspapers. I hardly watch any other news shows. I find the news filters through no matter what. Then, I just go looking for it on line. Much better. Right now I am really into John Southworth.
