My self-summary
Switched careers a few years ago, not many of us ex-Vikings turned psychologists. Love, love, love what I do – never thought having a career could feel this fulfilling or good. Now I try to help others find that as well.

My friend once described me part Wayne Dyer, part Jack Sparrow, a generous portion of James T. Kirk, a splash of Thom Yorke served on a bed of Gabriel García Márquez with a Jung-reduction sauce. If there's a "typical L.A. douchbag" type, I'm pretty much the opposite.

Have lived and traveled abroad, and miss the way Europeans have the work/life balance purring along.

Big believer in authenticity and intimacy - not the Hollywood version but the Real Deal.

Love exercise, doing anything outdoors and going on all kinds of crazy or expansive adventures. Double that for anything on or near the water. Occasionally under it as well.

Deeply spiritual, not religious – meditator for many years.

Life is great. All that's missing is a companion, lover and deep friend rolled into one being. I've seen it with friends and among clients so I know it's possible.
What I’m doing with my life
Former producer, currently a psychotherapist. A foot in both worlds.

And no, I'm not analyzing you on a date.

Unless you're batshit crazy.
I’m really good at
writing, speaking, reading others, speaking honestly, having fun, calming myself down or revving myself up, trusting my intuition, making friends in strange places, fightin' the power and finding my way.
The first things people usually notice about me
my dark eyes, I look 10 years younger than my age, my intellect, my calm when I'm calm and energy when I'm energized, easy to talk to, funny
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music - almost zydeco though

Movies - Samsara, Red (the tricolore series), Synecdoche NY, Get Him To The Greek, Network, Amour, Ferris Bueller's Day Off
The Shining

TV - Hannibal, South Park, House of Cards, those great Nat Geo docs, that one sitcom about monkey/philosophers who end up running Congress

Books - Anton Wilson to Delueze to Herbert to Coehlo to Assagioli to Yeats.
And of course, "Oh, The Places You'll Go" by everyone's first therapist, Dr. Seuss.

Food - sushi, French, Viking. I like most foods (no more insects, though).
The six things I could never do without
Great food - sushi, Spanish tapas, Italian, French, Moldavian and Viking
Being outdoors
Time alone and time together - nothing is more precious than intimacy
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the next travel destination
the future
right now
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with friends, cooking, reading and writing. Or heading to places I've never been to - sometimes it leads to the seedy, sometimes to the sublime. Almost always it's fun.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm starting my own dating site called

I've never photographed well and have been told I look much better in person, hence I'm a little self-conscious about posting my pics.

Really want a woman to explain the whole posting pics of yoga poses on the beach phenomena. I dig it, but what's the takeaway supposed to be?

At the risk of this devolving into the infamous shopping list I see on so many profiles here goes:

An emotionally mature, funny, bright, articulate woman, who really wants intimacy (for the cheap seats, sex isn't the same as intimacy), is healthy, in shape and attractive, emotionally and physically. If I don't respond to your messages, it's because I don't think we're a good match.

...who knows the difference between Xymox's The Stranger and Camus' The Stranger, a good Cab and a great Pinot, a green field from a cold steel rail, or a smile from a veil...
