My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I do acro yoga, spin poi, go to burning man (and regionals, flow festivals, etc.), and play bass in a band (also guitar, drums).

I've been working and playing in Indy since 2004. I like the Colts and IU, tons of different kinds of music (Rock, Classical, Trance, Trip-Hop, Dubstep, Psy, Breaks, D&B) and movies (esp Sci-fi/Fantasy or Vampire/Warewolf/Zombie).

I've been in and out of bands since I was 13. My current band, I play bass, played 90 shows during 2008-Oct 2010 and my first album with them was released in April 2010. We've since released a follow up and I've recently played my first SxSW.

I really enjoy new experiences, especially entertainment or food related (Japanese, Thai, Indian, etc.). I've been to a good number of concerts, burlesque shows, variety shows, beer tastings, pride parades, BarFleet parties, dance music festivals, flow festivals, and burns. I'm on that other website, sounds like MetLife, ask for my username.

I've been doing Acro Yoga for 3 years now and am getting decent at it. I like going to the climbing gym. I also spin poi and I'm learning to hoop, dart, devil stick, staff, juggle...
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I'm a professional geek (SQL Server Developer) and a bass player in a band. I bought a house in 2014 and I like Indy's size-to-travel-time ratio.

I still play video games on occasion. I think a part of me needs that shut off valve for awhile. I don't mean going out to a party, but... this kind of alone-ness where you can truly find relaxation in the concentration.

I really want to quit smoking. Really, want to. Pretty sure.

I want to:
Skydive again
Travel. My friends have moved to the coasts and I need to visit.
Quit smoking.
Build a climbing wall in the garage.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Spinning things: Acro, Poi, Devil sticks, dragon staff
Musical Instruments: Bass/Guitar/Drums/some keys
Computer stuff: Windows stuff mostly. I build my own desktops.
Massage: I have a degree, just need to get that certification.
Cooking: Or I have a great interest! Alton Brown is a hero of mine!

Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, JK Rowling
Douglas Adams, Augusten Burroughs, David Sedaris

Drama, Fantasy, Mob, Police drama/mystery, some horror, some Sci-Fi, some westerns. I've seen a good deal of movies and I'd estimate 50 of IMDB's top 100. Though, I don't ever seem to remember dialogue well enough to quote them correctly.

Karnivool, Nothing More, Twelve Foot Ninja, Alice in Chains, NIN, Faith No More, Tool, Puscifer, Massive Attack, Portishead, Thievery Corporation, Desert Dwellers, Beats Antique, Adventure Club

Grew up on Classic Rock and have played in two cover bands since moving to Indy. One was more like Staind, Van Halen, Cult, Zeppelin and the other was like Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Eagles, Joe Walsh, Grand Funk Railroad, and some country/rock.

I'm down for some good food. Usually that implies fresh, not frozen, locally sourced if possible, reputable kitchen (Nuvo's best-of nominees, for instance). I really like to support one-off local restaurants and places I know strive for fresh, local produce. The Local, Public Greens, Three Sisters, Siam Square, La Revolucion, Mesh, Bru Burger, Sakura, Sizzling Wok.

I prefer beer and bourbon. My likes are IPAs, some Wheats (Gumballhead!), Rye Ales, sometimes Stouts and Porters. Often times I'll gravitate toward something 5-10% abv with an above 50 ibu. For bourbon I know fewer I don't like than that I do. I appreciate a well made cocktail and enjoy bars like Brass Ring, Thunderbird, and Iozzo's. Fireball, Rumple Minze, and Pucker are not the way to my heart.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I set to writing this profound list...

1. My mind
2. or body.
3. Choice
4. Sustenance
5. Community
6. Hope

And I realized I give up each of these from time to time. Except the last one.

Never's a strong word. Internet, phone, and car are all really important to my day to day. Giving them up can be really nice though.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The news, current events.
What time it is.
Work, code, and how to make people's lives better.
Stuff I should be doing, instead of what I'm currently doing.
What shows or events are upcoming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Performing or watching a performance or hanging with other performers.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I feel like I'm becoming a jack of all trades but master of none. It's a bit humility that "the more I know, the more I know I don't", and a little bit that there are some amazing people in this world.
