My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
(Insert standard quip about awkwardness of online profile) Hi! Despite my dislike of labels, they tend to build up when I'm not looking. So, without further ado, I'm:
a healthcare IT MacGuyver, communist, geeky, nerdish, hermit, body-positive, polyamorously kinky, and... a low brow intellectual? I've been in the Boston area for a while, and I'm looking for a few new people to hang out with.

I like talking about politics. A lot. In particular, I talk a lot about class, race, gender, health disparity, communism, socialism, feminism, revolution, media, racism, and lots more. I also like talking about cheesy movies, comics, computers, kink, or anything else as much as in-depth conversations about political issues.

I love learning as much as much as possible. I think everyone's got something valuable to share.

I'd like to grow up to be a mix of William S Burroughs, David Cronenberg, Michael Parenti, Richard Stallman, and Alan Berkman.

Also, I'm in a stable open relationship, with someone I met on OKC. It can happen! We've been together for over 6 years, and love each other very much. That said, our arrangement is quite flexible and trusting. I think honesty in relationships is very important.

Also also, I usually access OKC on my phone, so it may or may not show me as online.

I am curmudgeonly, kinky, and leftist
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Not what I planned to do while I was in school... I work in Healthcare IT, and it's pretty exciting! I help develop and implement applications in emergency departments, which is a healthy mix of challenges and stress. I'm also a systems security officer, though I'm still waiting for my badge. I believe that technology can be used to lower the cost of healthcare, and help increase access in underserved communities. If I didn't think this was the case, I would not do what I do...

I work a lot, so I haven't had much time for anything else recently. I'm hoping to change this! That said, I enjoy decompressing/relaxing when I have the time. Want to go through a season of an excellent show on Netflix? Get at me!

I used to live with 2 awesome cats, but one died 2 days before Christmas... But now I have 2 very lovely Siamese cats who follow me around and are constantly adorable. Pics available upon request!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-Carrying on conversations openly without being too judgmental. I'm very, very rarely shocked by the things people say.
-dissecting/analyzing arguments, though I certainly have my own biases.
-being very calm and laid back. It actually requires a lot of effort sometimes!
-not being grossed out. It's certainly possible, though few know how to do it.
-making people feel smart.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm very tall, usually quiet, and almost always a bit disheveled. I have signature facial hair that will occasionally get longer or shorter, but never disappear!

Also, that I look and act pretty normal for a non-monogamous communist into BDSM, horror flicks and musicals...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: The Revolution Will Not Be Funded: Beyond the Non-Profit Industrial Complex, Malcolm X Speaks, 1984, People's History of the United States, Marshall McLuhan, Marx, Ward Churchill, Angela Davis

Movies: Wild Zero, The Yes Men, American Psycho, Pump Up The Volume, Tetsuo, Repo Man, Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, They Live, 638 Ways to Kill Castro, May, Attack the Gas Station, Cannibal the Musical, Videodrome, Crash (Cronenberg, not the recent one...) . I also like cheesy action movies, especially ones with superheroes. And Sci-fi movies!

TV Shows: Community, Futurama, Buffy, BSG, Firefly, Simpsons, Parks and Recreation, Louie, Hannibal, Agents of Shield, Archer, Rick & Morty, Walking Dead... I watch a lot of TV! Curse this golden age of Television!

Music: Most electronic music, jazz, Industrial, Metal, hip-hop, musicals, a bunch of other stuff... I listen to a pretty wide variety of things. Lately I've really been into pop music.

Food: Whatever I need to survive... and pizza. And milkshakes.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) My Computer 2) Challenging work 3) Pizza 4)Online TV/Netflix 5)Intelligent conversation and/or ranting 6)Kink (not necessarily in that order...)

I used to have chocolate milkshakes here, but I haven't had one in a while, so I guess I can do without it. I thought it would be dishonest to leave it there.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What I would do if I traveled back in time. The nature of sex and relationships. BDSM. How I wish I used the metric system on a regular basis. How there's not enough time to do everything I want to. Oppression and intersectionality. How poor my grammar is for someone with a degree in English.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Hanging out with friends, reading, watching movies, or engaging in nerdish activities. Lately I have been indulging in hermititude, since I don't know a whole lot of people here. I'd like to be Dancing!
I'm a bit of an introvert, so I generally like relaxed atmospheres with not a lot of people around.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm actually a toaster oven.
I also think that I'm attracted to jaded people and the cynical.(Not judgmentally, though!) They just seem to go well with my broodiness and cynicism, and I enjoy the company of people who are able to talk about their emotions and experiences with real depth and insight, which in my experience has been people with emotional issues. I admire optimism, but I don't like when people go for the easy fix. That said, it is by no means a requirement for friendship or otherwise.
Additionally, I save people to my favorites list while I try to think of something interesting to say (I may over-think things...)
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You're interested in talking and you've got a soft spot for people who are kind of nerdy/geeky...

You want to flaunt societal gender norms and make first contact. Rarely happens here, but is refreshing to see!

I'm not a huge fan of drama, so I like laid-back people. If you like hanging out, watching movies, and relaxing, we should chat!

Also, if you are a marxist/communist/socialist/anti-capitalist/leftist/left nationalist/progressive liberal, because making out with people who hold similar political beliefs is hot. Though not necessary. And I'm not implying that I want to make out with everyone who messages me. I'm just sayin... ya know?

Also also, if you're just intrigued by something in my profile, find something confusing, or just feel like it, send a message my way!
