My Notes edit
My self-summary
Animals and nature, reflection, awareness, exploration, sensuality...all play a key role in my life. Quality of time over quantity of objects...simple pleasures: spring wildflowers, music that aches to be played over and over, wood burning stoves on rainy winter days, good wine and home shared cooking.
People tend to emphasize what and how much they have in common with a partner, whereas I think it's actually more important how they accept and work through their differences.
(Inga is the female "bot" on this website who signed me onto the system...We had a short fling, but it's over, and I'm over her.)
What I'm doing with my life
I'm self employed as a beekeeper...I do live removal of bees from buildings and sell honey to a large store in Berkeley. I like the required "presence" of working with live beings that are aware of my energy. The work is sort of like a meditation for me...maintaining focus as in picking the combination of a safe while the building is being bombed.
I just started making kombucha. The first batch had a bit too much of a kick in it...so I'll remove the culture a bit earlier with this batch.
I'm really good at
Inventing crazy fun games for my tireless Australian cattle dog.
Being a genuine friend who will call you on your shit as well as hold you when you're crying.
I make scrumptious baklava.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Movies: Schindler's List, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Harold and Maude, Groundhog Day, Bad Santa, The English Patient, My Cousin Vinny, Clerks, Vertigo, Dances with Wolves, Memento, Scent of a Woman
And the Columbo television series...I love Peter Falk's character and the suspense.
The six things I could never do without
growth
mentors
companions
love
all the delicious sensual treats that adorn the journey
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I wonder what's going to become of our world...after so many years of depleting our resources and polluting our world...are we going to discover and implement a way of life that restores a balance and health to the planet. On the one hand, I believe that this existence is a classroom for learning love and that something way bigger than we can imagine is going on...just look up at the stars at night. Can we really destroy anything bigger than our small temporary existence, and does it matter whether we destroy the earth or it eventually dies a cold death or bursts into a fiery end millions of years from now?
I do know that it feels good in a deep place to do small things that honor the earth and its inhabitants. In that way, somehow it doesn't matter what actually happens knowing that I've followed what feels right in my choices and my relationships. Ultimately, I do feel positive about the inherent good in people to come together and make selfless choices when it really counts.
Occasionally I've envisioned living off the grid and managing a little biodynamic farm with animals and fruit trees. The demise of large scale factory farming will mean a return to smaller local economies.
On a typical Friday night I am
hot springs, interpreting dreams, blueberry/mango pancakes with eucalyptus honey, dark chocolate in the glove compartment (winter only), blooming rhododendrons, aha moments, in between silent moments, bittersweet memories, crossing the finish line with friends, big old trees that have seen so much, long drives home on mountain roads late at night with the moonroof open and the heater blasting, children making a new discovery, letting go into something even deeper, unbridled laughter and fun.
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here
You should message me if
"To love and be loved, is to feel the Sun from both sides."
