My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a passionate, whimsical, fiercely intelligent, surprisingly outdoorsy sesquipedalian. Much more importantly, I'm increasingly working on my life as a faithful Catholic. Children (and the easily amused) think I'm hilarious. If you can't handle intelligence or mystery, I promise I won't bite, but you probably should seek shelter elsewhere.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally I have been teaching a zombie language and traveling for several years. Now I'm hitting the books to improve my pedagogy in a Master's program and hope to keep my soul while navigating the ivory labyrinths.

Travel, long distance and trail running, language exploration, wine tasting, and poetry encompass a few of my hobbies. I'm aiming for my first full marathon in November.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I make kids laugh. I brew a hot cup. I find the best in folks.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My mischievous grin & loud laugh. If I don't make you laugh the first time I meet you, I'll owe you a beer at least.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

... I'll read just about anything (history, sci-fi, essays, poetry, theology, novels, popular science, grammar books, mysteries, biographies of obscure folk, even children's lit) and usually am reading piecemeal about 7 books at a time. What lack of focus, me? Favorite authors? Whoever's got me hooked at the moment. Also, Horace, Waugh, Hardy, Chesterton, Tolkien. Finally read Tolstoy-still recovering.

Movies: When someone makes an esoterically hilarious and spiritually uplifting, suspenseful, culturally diverse, visually stunning zombie Bollywood space-musical based on a true story with strong female leads, Netflix will send it to my house without asking me first. I love movies, but I'm trying to stop...

TV: Classic sci-fi, good drama, documentaries, mad cap british humour. If it's funny but interesting or dark but thought-provoking, I'll probably like it, though I'm trying to watch less these days.

Music-wise, I'll listen to anything but grindcore at least once. My major playlists cover polyphony, early music, Mumford & Sons, Radiohead, the Smiths & New Wave, Nina Simone, Decemberists, Beck, the Zombies, bossa nova, the Drifters, Patsy Cline, Puccini, Florence and the Machine, and tightly edited Capital Cities dance pop.

Food: I have an adventurous palate. Anything with curry, lemongrass, and/or hot chilies rocks my world, though I love old style continental cuisine, too. Especially authentic Italian.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Besides the organic biological essentials, family/friends (the same to me), good books, sunshine, humor*, tough walking shoes, and the utmost ontological necessity which is its own cause. Read Aquinas, people.

*for which the BBC can stand in.

(Oh, and my other police box is a TARDIS.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
the minds of children, linguistics, cryptography, poetry, Christian ethics, religion and science, knowledge and evidence, true kindness, gardening.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
wondering how I get myself into such situations and being terribly glad about the good company.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like scotch more than the typical lady and that's what it'll take to get more out of me on this topic.

Also, to prevent any more of those booty call messages, I'm saving myself for marriage. Non-negotiable.
