My Notes edit

My self-summary

The last time I tried to save the world, I realized I'd ruined my manicure, and decided to search for career choices outside being a superhero. Destiny, my ass.

One popular theory about me is that I'm composed almost entirely of awesome, coffee, and snippets of books. Then again, other proposed formulas include significant amounts of hemlock, so I'm not sure I want to rely on any of the current theories floating around. If I had to describe myself, I wouldn't, I'd let Jonathan Carroll do it: Three quarters perfection, one quarter broken glass.

I admit to embarrassing things far too often. I should work on that.

I'm a writer, which means I should be good at this. I'm not.

What I'm doing with my life

Enjoying it.

I currently work as a senior buyers assistant for a company that handles websites for a number of charities, and we make significant contributions to the causes we support. It's nice to feel like my soul isn't dying a bit every time I walk into my office. I secretly love my job.

I hope to be traveling a lot more soon. I haven't seen nearly as much of the world as I want to.

When I'm not working or failing to save the world due to manicure related complications, I can often be found drinking, going to shows, jumping in fountains or bodies of water, and shouting at televisions during sporting events or news broadcasts.

I'm really good at

Writing. Making people laugh. Helping my friends and family. Putting my foot in my mouth. Making an ass of myself in public and wholeheartedly enjoying it. Teaching and learning. Finding something to enjoy in almost anything.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me

My eyes and the fact that I don't sugarcoat much of anything. The fact that I have webbed hands and a six foot tail usually get missed until a little later in the game.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Authors: Hunter S. Thompson, Haruki Murakami, Jonathan Carroll, Richard Dawkins, Chuck Palahniuk, Kurt Vonnegut, Christopher Hitchens, George Orwell. Many many many others.

Music: I have pretty broad taste. Right now I've been listening to a lot of: Joanna Newsom, Imogen Heap, Modest Mouse, Gogol Bordello, Botch, Klaus Nomi, Lupe Fiasco, M.I.A., David Bowie, The Coup, The Rolling Stones, Architecture in Helsinki, Cat Stevens, Saul Williams, Pavement, Radiohead, Of Montreal, Billie Holiday .

Food: Sushi with way too much wasabi, Indian food, Thai.

Movies: Harold and Maude, Supertroopers, Heathers, Fight Club, Withnail & I, The Big Lebowski, Kontroll, Amelie, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Love Me If You Dare, A Beautiful Mind, Run Lola Run, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Big Trouble in Little China, Enter the Dragon, Hot Fuzz, Shawn of the Dead, Memento, Being John Malkovich, Say Anything.

The six things I could never do without

Coffee, books, martinis, friends, family, music.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Contradictions, politics, religion, books, the state of the world, global conscience, where I lost that velveteen rabbit I had when I was a kid, that guy with one arm and one leg I once watched desperately trying to open the door to a seedy bar without any help.

On a typical Friday night I am

performing complex mathematical equations in my head while dancing the finest foxtrot this side of the Mississippi.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here

I'm a lot more warm and fuzzy than most people realize.

You should message me if

You can't stand reality television, and you've read a book in the last month or so.
