My self-summary
I'm an odd mix of geek and jock: I write novels and screenplays, keep highly physically fit, create a unique form of embossed metal artwork, ride fast motorcycles, play computer games, used to teach Thai boxing, create anti-theism YouTube videos, was a US Army paratrooper, and I used to be a naturalist/guide in the Galapagos islands. Among other things. (Good luck finding a match for that, OkCupid!)
What I’m doing with my life
I live a semi retired life, teaching computer applications maybe once a week on average, writing screenplays and novels (one is also an audiobook, voiced by yours truly), creating videos and artwork (both embossed metal artwork and engaging rodenty cartoons), among other things. Oh, and I collect nuclear submarines. Yeah, real ones. Granted, I've yet to find one...but that still counts, doesn't it?
I’m really good at
Creativity. It's practically my middle name. I'm also good at defying expectations, puns, arguing, trivia, and eating the same diet for the past 15 years (I do eat out occasionally, no limits).
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm rangy-slim, angular, silver-haired but with a blond mustache, and I tend to move like someone half my age. Oh, and I suspect they notice I look remarkably not like Danny DeVito.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Too many to list here. But I like a lot of science-fiction and fantasy, some horror, and all of those mixed in with other genres. As for music, it's easier to list what I don't like: country-western, rap, Motown, screaming. I do have a soft spot for '80s music, particularly Euro-pop.
The six things I could never do without
The Internet, my cat, my writing, computer games, free time and exercise. But most importantly, I absolutely can't do without not being tossed into a wood chipper.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Nanotechnology and the singularity (basically any highly advanced technology). I keep a blog on the topics. I also think a lot about honing my anti-fundie video arguments, plays on words, and learning totally useless flotsam of information (like the fact that Frederick Walton invented linoleum in 1860).
On a typical Friday night I am
Busy working out, followed by take-out dinner and then watching a few favorite TV shows. I know it sounds boring, but I enjoy it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
My ex-girlfriend and I still live together after 20 years. We get along well, do chores together, share similar interest in TV...but she's 18 years my senior, married, and we no longer have any sort of sexual or romantic relationship between us (and it's an open relationship). I wouldn't call myself poly (what guy would want that name, anyway? Besides, my last name isn't Wannacracker), but maybe a long-term serial monogamist? Something like that....
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 28–45
  • Near me
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating, activity partners
You should message me if
You're not interested in a conventional relationship. Perhaps you need interesting conversation and can't find it, or you have a busy life and just need a close connection now and then, or there's something lacking in your existing relationships that maybe I can help with. Who knows? I know I miss the delight and passion of exploring someone new.
