My self-summary
Yep, my screen name leaves much to be desired. I am terrible at coming up with quirky and/or creative screen names...and figure I could be doing other worthwhile activities? Alright, so the summary: originally from Iowa (What?!) and reside in Northampton. I'm queer (my sexuality is fluid--I like people), I'm down to earth, love dogs, random adventures and the outdoors. I enjoy rich, interesting conversations (now thats obligatory dating site material gah), but I am also a sucker for humor!! I am currently enjoying quirky New England activities and being low key while attempting to figure out life, which has led to the conclusion that no one ever figures that one out. So, for now, I am enjoying the ride and paying rent. Hell yes.
What I’m doing with my life
All that I am certain of is that I mysteriously wear a lot of turtlenecks and cardigans. But I suppose if I must answer this question with an ounce of seriousness: in short, I wish I knew. I majored in Women and Gender Studies, concentrating in social justice (which sounds overwhelmingly pretentious, but I swear I'm not). Since college, I've held research jobs and worked for a variety of non-profits, but currently, I am a nanny and absolutely love it! But someday soon, I would love to be involved with creative writing, policy changes, non-profits, oral histories, documentary film making, travel etc.
I’m really good at
I can go on and on about gender, the world, the greatness of oral history, poetry, and philosophical, really dorky shit. HOWEVER, I am good at not taking myself too seriously and love to laugh! I also like to think I am good at being kind, sincere, open-minded and just plain goofy. Ooo and this is important: I am also good at being unapologetically AND gloriously full figured and curvy!! Go body positivism!!
The first things people usually notice about me
I can do one HELL of a midwest accent. Also, most people probably notice my love of my roots. I was born and raised in Iowa and hold midwestern loveliness/complexities very close. Appearance wise: dark eyes, expressive face?
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite books: Fahrenheit 451, Fun Home, RubyFruit Jungle, Mary Oliver, Kettle Bottom, David Sedaris..anything politically/socially non-conformist (Vonnegut), creative nonfiction, well-written fiction, queer, feministy, or just plain entertaining...could always use recommendations!

Movies: I am a documentary NERD, Away We Go, Milk, Annie Hall, Thelma and Louise, Doubt, The Breakfast Club, grew up watching Hitchcock and many oldies but goodies. Its been awhile since I have seen a stunning film, but I love going to the movies and will watch pretty much anything.

Shows: I don't keep up with many shows but I do love House, Rachel Maddow, Revenge (I have a strange yet endearing need to watch trashy ABC family shows to get myself out of my head...not to mention, they can be damn entertaining...). All things NPR!

Music: Neko Case, Mumford and Sons, The Shins, Avett Brothers, Missy Higgins, Andrea Gibson, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Dar Williams, Imogen Heap, The Cranberries, Queen, First Aid Kit, JONI, anything Indie and mellow. I was raised with Foreigner and Billy Joel...so I can/ will occasionally break out in uptown girl. Oh, you should know I will not know top 40 songs...this is almost guaranteed...but I do my best at pretending. :)

Food: yes.
The six things I could never do without
meeeeh, this question is laaaaaaame.
1. friends/family
2. fall/nature/trees
3. my dog...sadly, in Iowa
4. people who are daring and make me laugh
5. having great conversations...and HUMOR!!
6. umm. carbs?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I would like to stop thinking about everything...What I want to do next...oh and my utter need for a dog. Sigh.
On a typical Friday night I am
Laughing with friends, looking up at the stars...sharing funny stories...connecting with people.
